Re: Snow The key words are "so far" as there lots more forecast for the weekend; classic lake effects snowfall.
|
Re: Snow I just saw a news report that said 59" in Orchard Park. (but news reports often get it wrong on still-breaking news)
Have to feel for all the people under this snowstorm, and right as they go into a travel holiday next week. I feel fortunate to be on the upwind side of the great lakes. |
Re: Snow >>>4 feet of snow so far in Orchard Park, NY.>>>
Pfft! That's nothing. More like snow flurries. How about 12ft near Oswego a while back?. |

Re: Snow I always wondered why they located the Buffalo airport right in the heart of the where the heaviest snowfalls are recorded.

Re: Snow Hello, Ed from Orchard Park NY here.
So far 77 inches here. I have a Kubota diesel for lawn & snow duty. Can't push the snow anymore, have to use the bucket to lift & relocate the snow Had to dig out the drier & furnace vents last night. Lived here all my life, we deal with it, Talked to a old HS bud who lives just south of Daytona, he's replacing dry wall, insulation, wiring, & salt water rotted studs in his kitchen. My response to him was that I have never had snow in my kitchen.....I'll take the snow Later today I'm going skiing out the back yard...love it!!! Like I said we deal with it I live about 2 mi from Charlie, Good bud, I see him pretty regularly. He's busy every day doing his flathead stuff I'll try to post some pics here later |
Re: Snow Quote:
If not, perhaps you may take a bit of time and to understand what global warming actually does to the weather patterns. |
Re: Snow How many of you from w NY remember the blizzard of 77? I think Buffalo and surrounding areas got it even worse back then. terry

Re: Snow Quote:
Its not global warming, Its global climate disruption. Regardless, Buffalo and surrounding areas got a boat load of snow. |

Re: Snow For those of us that do have snow --- suggest that the folks in Western NY start to practice space management.
For those who only see pictures of snow, that means -- start piling it up as far away as you can, so you have room later, what will come later. Time to practice space management. |
Re: Snow Quote:
Tell Charlie 'Hi' he is a really good guy. He did a distributor rebuild for me after another much vaunted individual that was 'supposedly' an expert on Flathead dissy's screwed it up royally:) Then claimed it worked fine. ( A more severe swear word came to mind but let's keep it civil) Charlie did an excellent job on it. He made it right! |
Re: Snow I remember the blizzard of 77. (Grew up in South Buffalo) And plenty of other years with lots of snow. There's a few other places around the lakes that often get more snow. Nobody ever hears about it though. Buffalo gets all the news. Sometimes Erie PA.
|
Re: Snow Hard to imagine that much snow at one time. That's about what we get for a year.
|
Re: Snow still better than a heracane or twister

Re: Snow Living in Western NY...we deal with it. Not really a big deal any more as long as folks prepare properly.
I also was in the blizzard of 77. In my opinion that was much worse. Conditions lasted a full week. Much colder, single digits temps, way stronger winds. Poor prep , local leadership I was still working in Buffalo. Got stuck at the Holiday inn. They ran out of cheep food, so I had to eat steaks, while my wife was stuck at home with 2 toddlers...Yea I know!! Inside now having a hot tea/brandy.... like I said we deal with it I will for sure pass on you kind words to Charlie....as soon as the driving ban is lifted ed |
Re: Snow Charlie probably hunkered down during Storm, and put my 39’ Trans back together.

Re: Snow 290 miles Due East form you / Orchard Park.

Re: Snow We are approx. 25 west miles from Erie, PA. The winter of 1977 we didn't have school for two weeks. I enlisted in the USAF to get away from the harsh Lake Erie winters. Spent most of the next winter at the Fire school at Chanute AFB in Illinois. They had one of the worst winters in 20 years and we marched a mile each way to the school. Went to North Carolina for a year. Then to Shemya Alaska at the tail end of the Aleutian Islands. Then back to Chanute as an Instructor. So maybe that didn't work out really well.

Re: Snow GB, I should have told the USAF I wanted to go somewhere really cold like Minot North Dakota. They would've sent me to Hawaii!
