Shipping a Model A 1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I'm looking for suggestions for a carrier to ship a '29 Business Coupe from northern Illinois to the Kansas City, MO area. I posted it on Uship but not having much success so far. Any suggestions of someone to haul this would be greatly appreciated! |

Don’t list on Uship - it has turned into a place for auto transport brokers to bid on loads - by the time the fees are paid there is nothing left for the actual hauler. I joined up when they first started - it is not the same. My guess is - no one is taking your haul because your transport budget is below cost. Quote:

Re: Shipping a Model A I am up in the Madison WI area, if I weren't so tall, would drive it for you. Coupes and Roadsters were not designed for tall people.
Wife and I just put 282 miles on our Model A on a day trip to Iowa to see the fall colors. |

Re: Shipping a Model A Good Morning...Driving your A on this trip might be a great deal of fun. However, I would do a couple to things to make it easier on the car and you and your favorite passenger. First I would spend some time with a map of the area and figure out the best non-freeway route to take. Second, I would break the trip into two days. 225 miles a day in an 'A' is plenty for us and for the 'A'. If no overdrive, then cruise along at 40 miles an hour, with overdrive run 55. Check into a nice little hotel, have a good shower, a good dinner and among other things, a good nights sleep. In the morning, check coolant, oil, lug nuts, tire pressure, and head out for the second day. Ernie in Arizona

Re: Shipping a Model A Bob,
By the way, that is a good looking 29 oval-window, business coupe. Does it have a trunk or a rumble seat? You are one lucky guy. Neil |

Re: Shipping a Model A Getting back to the LHD/RHD debate . What side of the road you drive on goes back to medieval times . When you approach another horseman you need your sword arm free on the same side as he passes you .This means you ride on the left side of the road / track . This was because most people are right handed . In USA and the rest of Europe maybe you did not have many dudes on horses with swords . I think most USA gunslingers must have been left handed . Just my theory .

Re: Shipping a Model A Ronn, Have you been talking to my wife?
Indeed and she is onboard with you buying that A 400 youve always wanted! she says, that's a bit of alright. |
Busy Eating Contrary to popular belief - early Americans were eating burritos - sandwiches - jalapeño poppers - corn dogs - egg rolls with their left hand as they rode the trails ...

Re: Shipping a Model A jalapeño poppers
think thats stretching it a bit........... |
Re: Shipping a Model A Try Kiwi Karriers. I've used them several times. Always good luck and I think fair prices. You can request an open or closed transport. Last Model A that I shipped was a roadster pickup. They showed up with a two car enclosed trailer. Usually a quick delivery - 10 days or less.

Re: Shipping a Model A Most all who respond to an internet search will be Brokers. All Brokers work with a group of independent haulers who will respond to the Brokers offer. I just shipped from CA to ID with Allied Auto Shippers (Jonathon 254-372-1485). He was extremely accommodative and offered lowest rate by far. I learned after many other quotes that auto shipping rates are currently near all time highs, due to extremely high demand, especially in the West. Many will give unrealistically high quotes in hopes you will bite. GOOD LUCK.

Re: Shipping a Model A Your gallons are so small you are being ripped off.
From the internet "Way back - at the time we all lived together - we had used the Queen Anne's gallon of 3.785l to measure wine. We also had different volumes and names to measure both beer and grain. When we realised that this was silly, in 1824, the UK chose a single imperial term and lumped together all three measurements, picking a roughly-average volume and calling it a gallon. American colonists, though, stuck to tradition and kept just the Queen Anne's volume for their own gallon definition. Fun facts about gallons A ten-gallon hat does not hold ten gallons. It's actually from the Spanish galón, which means braid or plait, and is named for the decoration around the hat." |
