Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups I know of one for sale in New Hampshire and I have driven it. Nice old truck ....
PM me with your phone number and I will pass it on .... TomT |
Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups What??? Like there's something NOT to love about them? ok, the enclosed driveline, but that is IT for me......I think a '34 would be my holy grail pickup, but a 33 or 35 would do in a pinch.

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups I'd be okay with a 1929 Model A pickup with a flathead v8 stuffed in it.

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups Working on a 35 BUT if a driver showed up that I could get into and drive with maybe a couple fix ups I could be interested. Mine is a ways off but is all steel and most of the heavy stuff is done. or a 32 5 window trunk model!! kx

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups Pre-war pickups are "great" and fun to drive. They don't go fast but they get you there. Have had my for 50 years and restored it in 2007.

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups Very, very nice. '35 Fords have been my favorite since i was a kid. The pickup is, I think, the most beautiful of all the pu's .... personal opinion, of course.
Thank you. |

My good old 37. Original paint, factory demonstrator color scheme. Rare DeLuxe version. Old V8 trucks are like a friendly old dog. You can not help but have positive emotional therapy while driving one. Working on one....well that might be a different story! (p.s. how do you post pictures at full size rather than thumbnails?)

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups 2 Attachment(s)
My 35. On display at the California State Fair a couple of years ago. It is currently in the California Auto Museum in Sacramento. While it is nice to share it with the visitors to the museum, I miss not having it to go on old V8 driving adventures.

My 39 stateside p.u. While it might not be as pretty as the 35 or 37 it drives better and has a much more comfortable cab. Barrel nose trucks used to be called ugly. Now everyone seems to find it appealing.

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups Not only do I love the pickups in these photos, the photos themselves are works of art. An old riveted steel bridge, a train, or a corrugated metal building in the background makes all the difference. A blue tarp rotting off a pile of junk in the background, or a picture including a hammered dodge aspen with one mag wheel can ruin the whole shot. Some of the backdrop on craigslist adds just screams to me "Run Gary, RUN!" This is a great thread. And yeah, that blue 35 is the holy grail.

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups 1 Attachment(s)
To me old V8 Ford trucks are special. As a kid in the 50's as our family travelled I searched the side streets, the back yards, the car lots, the farmers fields, the orchards for old V8 trucks. A trip to the Redwoods? A trip to the ocean? My memories were of the cast away, forgotten trucks. My dad and I restored the 35 and the 39 years ago. We did a couple more, including a 40 C.O.E. tow truck and my 37 panel. But to me the ultimate commercial Ford (besides 32-41 Sedan Deliveries) are the 32--34 open cabs. It took me half of my adult life to find one. This is it mocked up. I should gt to work on it but....

A couple of photos of "Rusty". A daily driver - definitely not a trailer queen.

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups 51504bat, I love your 39 ,I missed out on one a while back, would love to have one someday..

Re: Prewar Ford V8 pickups GB SISSON, Its pretty sad ,the old steel bridge our 35 is pictured with is gone, It was removed last month. I guess the township couldnt pay for necessary repairs, A local farmer moved it to his property so I wont be traveling over it in the the old truck. Im glad I took pics when I did...
