33-34 Floor Pans

Is there a reliable source that makes and stocks correct replacement floor panels for 33-34? I know the usual suspects, but looking for a reliable source.

Re: 33-34 Floor Pans

No clue on where to get this .

That said the rear section [ with the diff hole ] is very different 33 to 34 .
Not exactly sure when the change happened but it seems to be close to a 33-v-34 change .

The 33 type has stiffening braces spot welded underneath .
The 34 type does not have these as the stamped in ribs were made sharper and deeper .

If needed I can take pics of both types in the spare floor pile .

Re: 33-34 Floor Pans

When you say reliable, do you mean reliable about quality or reliable about delivery?

Howell's lists a facsimile of a floor pan on flea-pay. If it is actually in stock and ready to go then that may be as close as you will get. Bradley may still be taking care of his parent or whichever family member is in bad shape or whatever other excuse he may have. His quality was best but his reliability about delivery is poop.

Steve's Auto Restoration is about the only other one that ever came close to 33 & 34 stuff.

It's a good chance the answer is that there is no reliable source.

Thanks everyone for the info. I need the center section of the floor with the hump and don't want to deal with Bradley or Smart. Someone must be making these parts, or if anyone has a original floor contact me

Here is a picture of a USA 1934 Ford floor that was imported into Australia a few years back. It was used to replace the mostly wooden floor in an Australian 1934 Ford Roadster. This gives you what a bare floor looks like.

I have been calling every week and his phone still goes to VM and the box is full. I wonder about the other employees working for him. He had about 4. Are those guys laid off?? Anybody live close that can physically check things out??

Tom Bay is the only one I trust. He delivers what he promises on time and on price.

You can make a floor, it depends on your skill level ,or determination ,I made a couple of mistakes on this one ,the Govt here ran a night school class with all the old timer body men in the 90s ,the classed turned out all sorts ,model Ts ,people took there projects there ,,

How do you get a hold of Tom Bay? Does he have a web site?

rotorwrench 12-15-2019 09:48 AM

Re: 33-34 Floor Pans

Tom Bay is evidently not an internet person. This is from the HAMB.

It's good to know that someone else is doing it. I'm sure having the guy in McPherson helps some too.

I recommended Tom Bay for some 32 patch panels and apparently they were not very nice according to Ronnie Roadster?? I've had a couple customers use his 33/34 floor pans and they thought they were good. I suppose it depends on your expectations?

Re: 33-34 Floor Pans

Complete floors for the 33-34 Fords are very scarce, probably due to the limited survivors of the very early Fords. I had the same problem in my Model A days. Another reason is that the complete floor requires special, and costly, shipping. As the pan is usually covered with some sort of mat, patching is more common, and usually doesn't require taking the body off the frame, a bigger job than most DIY owners are equipped to handle.

Here is a photo of one of Tom's floor pans. This is a non-stock application and the seat track braces are laying on top of the floor to mark locations. Added a couple of photos of the sub-rails, they are separate pieces.

When I worked on my original skid 1928 IHC throttler there was a suggestion to send a request to a Amish crew in Penn. No phones or internet oh course. Sent a request by mail with what I wanted and address. They did and received the casings with in a month with a bill. Sent a check. Crazy world sometimes.

I've been to Tom Bays shop. If you've bought sheet metal from catalogs, Toms probably made it for them. Toms the guy.
