Anyone Know About This Car? I saw this and said, WOW. Anyone know anything about this car? I'm not going to buy it, unfortunately as I am car poor already, but is this an original condition car? Obviously needs some work, but still.....

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? I re-read the description, they call it an older restoration. Even so......

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? That's too cheap.

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Also for sale on our swap page...
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=265520 Seems like a give away price. I'm surprised it is still for sale. |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Also on Maine Craigslist:https://maine.craigslist.org/cto/d/y...921200767.html

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? I had serious thoughts of buying that car.I sold my Roadster and my Tudor, and I bought a 35 3 window coupe I've been looking at for 40 years.I thought about buying it anyway, but I am trying to thin the herd, not grow it.If it was a steelback I would most likely would buy it anyway.I really don't care much for puffy top cars.As I understand it the car was restored about 60 years ago,and that's right up my alley.I didn't know the car was on ebay,I never look there.I've been told the roadster I sold has been sold on there lately.

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Looks like a really nice car. If I were currently in the market I may be tempted. But, for the purchase price plus another $20k for the resto you would be close money to buying a finished one.
|
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? It would be nice if'n they put the location in the epay advert.

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Don't buy it unless you can give them cash in hand. Too cheap may mean a scam. There is a scam out there, "husband died, have to sell cheap, send $ to a po box in dallas".
You or someone you know needs to see the car in person. No excuses like I work too much. |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? The car exists. The owner is a poster on here.i think it's realistic for what it is and needs.I'll bet he's sitting back having a chuckle over others jibber jabbering about his car.I knew the car from other sources,I haven't looked at it on ebay.

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? How many vickys were made? does having the original engine raise price on these cars? what are all the benefits of diamond block? I have one and have noticed the fly wheel housing is locating pinned to the block, there are hardened exhaust seats, and a b cam. Any other things im missing?

If a car like this (or the other one posted in this thread) can be bought for $10-11k, the bottom has truly dropped out of the Model A market. :( . They are among the rarest and most beautiful Model As. |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Nice or not, I'm always suspicious when a seller is either too incompetent to take decent photos or too cheap to hire the 13 year old next door to take them. Cars pictured in shadows are the first 'red flag'.
|
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Quote:
The seller being incompetent with a camera or with words doesn't mean the car is crap. Often I'm the only one that that shows up and the seller is ready to deal on a truly nice car. :) |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? so no front fenders and it doesnt even run and many of you think this is cheap?
who wants to bet it doesnt even sell??????????????? |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Dick,
Lets keep that strategy to ourselves.......... |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Ronn
The ad states engine does run! |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? It will sell. I just regret timing is bad for me to buy it. Body alone is worth the price if as described. Yeah the interior may reek etc. still hard to get into such a rare model at that price point.

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? I do not think it is a give a way price.
If you look at the pictures very carefully, it looks like the car is in need of some work to make it dependable and presentable. I am NOT talking about restoring the car but doing the necessary repairs so it can be enjoyed. Tires, and you would want to do something with the wheels while you are at it. Brakes? Steering? Suspension? Plus the missing parts? Start adding everything up and you will have some money in it. For me in California, I would also have the cost of getting it home. It appears to be a good price and may be a little more but I would think you should have to buy it for 12.5K or less to be a good deal. I like the Vicky's and purchased locally a steel back several years ago. It is driver quality and needed some work to get it really road worthy but I have less than 20K in it and while it is not a restored car by any means, it looks good going down the road. Lay people think it is in perfect condition but a real Model A person will see the faults in the car. Some day, when I get some of my other projects done, I may get more involved doing work on the car but for now, it is just fine as it is. I drive it around to local events and enjoy the car. Please understand, this is just my opinion. Chris W. |

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? yes, diamond A block engine runs, but car wont go down the road.
there is a lot of work here folks. no screaming bargain.............. wish I had a bridge to sell some of you. yes Im kidding! |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? I would take a chance on this , I always wanted a Vickie , but my “better” half says no more cars....
It is always a good idea , no matter how good the pictures are to go see it in person, got soaked on a 29 Fordor that was billed as museum ready by bidding on it based on pictures alone. The sad thing was it was only about a hundred miles away. I will never make that mistake again.... |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Chris,
I value your opinion and agree. I have looked at vickys for awhile now and opening bid is fair, but I am betting there will be no takers. For not much more, one can buy a turnkey car and head on down the road......... |

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? So that's where they hide it, thanks.

That's the starting bid - may or may not sell for that. |

It's also under "Shipping" on the main page, directly to the right of the thumbnail pix. |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? The car is also for sale on Ford Barn.

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Sometimes you just cannot help but shake your head in disbelief at all the assumptions and fabrications some of y'all come up with. Even more saddening is how you publicly blistered him when you were discussing his 400A he posted about here a few months ago. :(

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? 1 Attachment(s)
The current seller purchased that Victoria from my late-friend's widow, a little over two months ago (in late April of this year) in Maryland.
See the reply #34 at this Fordbarn link: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...=253127&page=2 Here is a photo of it just prior to that sale in late April: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1553446375 .....and here is the one for sale on eBay: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1561970629 The known ownership history of the car was written on a piece of paper in the drivers side door pocket. Upon closer inspection of the photo of the one on eBay, it looks like the body and hood (and upholstery) of my late friend's Victoria was put on a different chassis. This is obvious since the original chassis, engine, plating, radiator and radiator shell, green wheels (to match the green pin stripe), era step plates, etc were in super nice restored condition (see above photos to compare the before and after) and the original rear fenders and running boards were also super nice and correctly restored. Also now gone are the side mount brackets, the original trunk rack on the back (had original wood grained metal slats, etc), the outside red view mirrors and restored original bumpers. I am sure however that the body and upholstery are from my late friend's car as shown by the old window stickers (in the windshield and passenger side rear window) along with the tatty mouse eaten interior. Re: Anyone Know About This Car? Brad
No that was good information. |
Re: Anyone Know About This Car? If Keith True knows the car and says it's ok as well as the seller stating the various issues, no need to come up with disparaging replies. Brent's post is spot-on.

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? also as a side note- the engine being sold with this car- diamond A block, is the one from the A400. Brad has clued a potential buyer as to what he is buying.

Re: Anyone Know About This Car? i know the car exists, and is not a scam.I was going to go up and look at it,but I have to stop the habit of selling two to thin out,and then buying three.
