Turn Signal ideas

I like the idea of turn signals (or rather, the drivers round about me do), but dislike the between-the-bumper mounted kits, due to their being too low to the ground, and practically invisible. So, what are some other ways you have mounted lights? I'm looking for ideas of places to mount turn signals that would be highly visible.

The next time it will be era correct fog lights clamped to the bumper arms as shown on a car I photographed at a show. Of course the bulbs will need to be appropriate for a turn signals.

I agree on those between the bumper lights , had them on for a hour or so , I have 12v so I converted cowls to amber bulbs , park lights and signal , highly effective and cheap.

Still 6 volt and I use the cowl and taillights, but even though it is nor "original" I also have a low profile led third brake light in the rear window. Folks are so busy staring at the car that they sometimes overlook those cute little brake lights that just came on. Chap

My CCPU doesn't have cowl lights, so I mounted aftermarket lamps on the headlight bar.

My only OP is; if you are going to install turn signals, put them where people expect to see them and use bulbs that put out some light. I am sure most states would be the same, once installed must be used and in working order.

I kave a set of, I believe are BMW, LED parking lights mounted between bumpers.
They are so bright they can't be ignored. but aren't noticeable if not in use.

Got them off of e-bay motors.

Still 6v. I think I bought them at Tractor Supply. I blacked out part of the front ones just because......I liked the look on the front better.

Nice Woodie... I agree with the "bulbs will need to be appropriate for a turn signals". Those 35 watt bulbs would be pretty bright for turn signals.

My front turn signals are in the headlights using the running lights socket in the reflector. You can just see the amber bulb.

In the rear I have these lights with LEDs in them.

All my lights are 6vdc LED's which includes the headlights. I have a solid state turn signal control made by Electro-Tech. I also have an LED 3rd brake light mounted at the base of the rear window in my coupe. This light is wired to the brake and the L&R turn signal control. The turn signals are operated using using a momentary switch mounted under the dash. The cowl lights, tail lights and the 3rd brake light are used as turn signals. The Electro-Tech signal controller has many features such as on time adjustment, audible on signal, turn signal remains on when brake is depressed, and emergency flashing (all lights). Turn signals work when the cowl and tail lights are turned on. I installed the controller inside the drivers kick panel making the turn signal system completely hidden.

What brand headlamps are you using?

Re: Turn Signal ideas

I am using Logo Lights LED's. They do not replicate the original light pattern projected by incandescent lamps reflecting off the parabolic reflector then projected through the lens. There are technical reasons for this difference which I will not discuss here. I do not do much night driving but the LED's are much brighter than the incandescent lamps and most of all they do not dim with change in engine speed. My original 6volt generator is very happy.

A couple of these, only in red, magnetic mount, they're just "parked" there.

My solution to the indicators for the speedster. The top of head lamps is fitted with a two section LED, one being for the running/park lamp and the other is an indicator. The lamps on the mudguard/fender are indicators, the rear guards/fenders have the same facing to the rear. the speedster still has a way to go, as can be seen by the photo, before the first road trial.:)

I have heard of this before, but do the turn signals show up with the headlights on?
I would be concerned that someone would not see it thinking the headlight was just loose.

Thanks, I have one of those in amber to put on the back for night driving, really strong magnets, very very bright, $15 on sale at Farm and Fleet.

If you add 4 independent LED lamps, you'll need an electronic flasher -
https://www.ledlight.com/flasher-6-v...e-chassis.aspx

12 volt negative ground e-flashers are a lot more common.
