Wrecked old Fords

Can we see some photos of old Fords that have wrecked in some fashion? Like falling off a tow truck or a building falling on it or what have you. They all didn't live out happy lives in the movies. I remember seeing one that had come off a lift while it was being worked on. That hurts. Chet/Ma.

I hope you put it back together? If so, what does it look like now? Thanks for posting. Chet/Ma.

Re: Wrecked old Fords

OK...not what you were looking for but my first job out of school was at a Porsche, Jaguar dealer. two memories I have is they had the two cylinder lifts and they had a new jag in for the first oil change. The idiot they hired to do simple things like oil changes was yacking to someone and let the back cylinder go up faster than the front. SLid the Jag off the lifts on it's nose and totaled it. Almost as good was when the owner's new 911 convertible arrived ant the guy backing it off the car carrier missed the ramp and dropped it off the truck.

Years ago when Lorin Sorensen did Fordlife magazine he dedicated an entire issue to wrecks involving Ford V-8's. Many of the photos were from insurance company files. He found a treasure trove of photos from some old files in Los Angeles. There wsas a few photos from the movies , but most concerned real life accidents.

Here's one I rolled on icy roads in 1961. I had another body on and was on the road again in 3 weeks.

That carb sure is up high. Is that a riser? Or one carb from say a thickstun intake.

It looks like a Thickstun to me - with the front carb missing.

Flipping through channels the other day, the start of "the Love Bug" came on. It was figure eight racing from the early-mid 60's footage. Lots of old Ford circle trackers biting the dust. Flipped channels soon after that, cogitated on the loss of lots of good tin, then thought if old Fords were in every garage I probably wouldn't lust after them so much. I hate to waste a good lust.

There is a new Arcadia book "Bowling Green Stock Car Racing" by Larry Upton and Jonathan Jeffrey with 125 pages (and that many or more pictures) of old Fords and a few others in the 1950s at Beech Bend Park, Bowling Green KY.

Reminds me when I was in high school back in the 70s. A classmate had a metallic brown late 40's E493A Prefect ( English Ford 10hp 4cyl flathead). They are a bit like the Anglias you Americans made drag cars out of. Well he rolled it one weekend. When he arrived at school on Monday it was blue. He just took the body of another one he had and transferred the plates off the wrecked one.

This '36 Deluxe just turned up on another site. No information, but it is most likely a staged safety campaign deal from a parade, IMO.

I came across this in Flat32's Photobucket album.

I love the leaves in the fender well.

The caption for this is 'seat belt test,' but I was thinking, 'poo doesn't always flow downhill.'

Here are some ptcs I took a few years ago at a local junkyard. Not all Fords but cool cars. Notice the Airflow laying on its side, there was 2 of them and the other was already heading to the recycler that day. Heartbreaking!

Probably did , but the driver survived with no side affects. Thats the well known wreck of his Royal Highness, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands.
Later on he started buying Ferrari,s.
