Another success story, for craig! All: Just wanted to share a double success story: yesterday, we graduated 9 individuals from my Drug Court, clean and sober for five full years, with the exception of one. That one completed the program (Methamphetamine addict) in the absolute minimum of 3 1/2 years by completing every requirement, in order, and on time - very difficult!
The second success story is that same young man - fascinated by my '47 Ford Flathead PU which I drive on occasion to the office - he has now purchased a '50 shoebox, and intends to make it a driver: the young man? He is 26 years old..........I am SO proud of my "children!" Craig Beers - I shared your story: you are / were an inspiration to him! |
Re: Another success story, for craig! Glad you are able to give 2nd chances and direction. Congratulations!

Re: Another success story, for craig! Press on Marcus.
I worked with the Drug Court in Indiana and saw many more successes than failures. As you know it's a matter of changing the heart not just the behavior. How can we give up on anyone when God never gave up on us. We rejoice with you, and them, Chap |

I'd be interested in how the Drug Courts work- What we are doing in this country with Drugs is failing and we need a new way to deal with this problem. Karl |

As an MD I would think you would have a better understanding. That's not your fault it is that of the medical community failing to train doctors on the disease of addiction. Different people experience it to varying degrees. I have seen some fight with their doctors to NOT give them opiates because the patient knew they did not need them and where it would go. I have been following this thread and it is nice Craig is doing so well but for different reasons I feel it is inappropriate for someone else to post this. It is akin to a HIPPA violation. If you really want to learn more go to an open NA or AA meeting. Just sit and listen. It will open your eyes to some of the things that are going on in the world. |
Re: Another success story, for craig! Frank - Thank you for your thoughts: I'll address your privacy act concerns by explaining that the young man's name is NOT Craig; the actions of my Drug Court are ALL open Court, except when discussions of treatment are concerned.
Karl - if you will send a note to [email protected], I will happily send you some information concerning Drug Courts, and our newest endeavor, the Mental Health Court. You are correct: Meth is the most difficult of illicit chemicals to recover from - but it can be done, and we doing it, daily! Thank you all for the kind and supportive wishes - by and large, this is an incredibly well-informed and positive forum. Going all the way back to the "Shelly Days" I never cease to be amazed at the depth and breadth of knowledge - flathead related or not. |
