Before and After Photos 4 Attachment(s)
Here are a couple of photos of my 1937 Ford Fordor De Luxe Before and After I purchased it and got it going.
Do you have some good Before and After photos? Please Post Them Here. It was six years ago today (Feb 18, 2012) when I purchased my 1937 Ford Fordor De Luxe. It was not running and had not been driven on a street in 50 years. It took me a few months to get it running and I cleaned it up real good. I was able to get the paint to shine pretty good. I restored/replaced the windshield, fuel system, intake and carburetion, coil, dist, battery, wiring, spark plugs, brake light switch, bulbs, solenoid, muffler/exhaust, original type headlights. It took some doing, but I was able to de-dust the interior. It turned out pretty good. The original plan was to restore the car, but I intend to keep the car unrestored and enjoy as is. |
Re: Before and After Photos Good for you, Tony. You did a good job and I like your decision to keep it as original as possible. Enjoy driving it as often as you can....

Re: Before and After Photos It's a beauty. You made the right decision. Well done. Folks really enjoy seeing a car the way it is as a "survivor".

Re: Before and After Photos Nice.

Re: Before and After Photos A sow's ear turned into a silk purse. Well done!
Care to share the secret of de-dusting the interior? Thanks. |

I appreciate your efforts. I have 2400 hours in my '40 starting with blowing the frame completely apart and starting over. All body work, paint and upholstery by yours truly.

Re: Before and After Photos I noticed you kept the South Wind heater. I remember those when I was a kid. Wouldn't those things crank out the heat! Nice car. You "done right".

Re: Before and After Photos Tony, you did a great job at preservation, it just looks like it was made to be driven. Close your eyes and it 1937 all over again.

Re: Before and After Photos Terrific car and terrific job! If I could have one pre-war Ford other than a pickup, it would be a '37-preserved exactly like yours

Re: Before and After Photos flatford8 - I told my 6 yr old g/daughter that I needed a pretty young lady in my car pic. After taking the picture she asked me, "G'pa, will your car ever look pretty?" I assured her that someday my car would be almost as pretty as her. 7 years later she agreed to model for me again.

Re: Before and After Photos "3738" - Did you have a "paintless dent repair" guy straighten out the front drivers fender? Your car looks great.

Re: Before and After Photos And 47 coe, I applaud you for keeping your cabover cab on a cabover chassis! And using it for what it was intended for no less! Beautiful job.

Tubman,
I took a hammer and dolly and worked the fender dent out some. It is still dented, just not as extreme. Before/after of interior and 60 hp engine |
Re: Before and After Photos Great Photos. Thanks guys.

Re: Before and After Photos 6 Attachment(s)
Here is my 32 roadster project. I bought the roadster as a very rough channeled car around 1969. I did all the metal work building and rebuilding body to frame brackets including a floor-subframe from a 32 Tudor that I bought from Montana. I fabricated the outer sills and filled multiple extra holes in my frame. Luckily a had two excellent original cars, owned by others, to use for reference.

Re: Before and After Photos How do you guys get water stains out of original upholstery like door panels?
|
Re: Before and After Photos Tony, I remember your FB posts when you first got this car. I'm glad you kept it original, looks great. Hoping I get to see this one in June at the Dearborn GNM.

Re: Before and After Photos Very nice cars and COE, guys! Hats Off for your DIY skills.
(It always amazes me at the loads the old trucks were subjected to; stopping distances had to be great!). |
Re: Before and After Photos Great thread and photos. I love them old trucks too.
