Is This Where I Say a Swear Word??

If I've told my hired hand once, I've told him a zillion times: DO NOT open the garage door to the antiques - not the ones in the avatar, nor any of the others. Soooo, while I am away, he thinks he needs a shovel - grabs the door to the garage, snatches it straight up and pushes it right off the rollers and onto the hood of the '47 PU and the '31 A (Avatar). Both seriously damaged (insured, but still.....). The was no shovel in the garage! Sorry for the rant, just wanted to get it off my chest: is it so hard to follow instructions? And no, I did not fire him......although I wanted to do serious bodily harm ........

Sorry to hear about this Marcus. It pains me every time my cars get a ding, scratch, bump, etc., and most of the time it's my falt that it happened. I can only imagine how you feel about this happening to two of your very nice vehicles :(

That's a shame!! Maybe its time to fix the door so that doesn't happen again. Maybe your hired hand could help.

Hi Everyone. Marcus is one of the nicest Ford dudes I've ever come across. We interacted briefly in the 2014 Gettysburg meet. I knew of him before, but paid attention after. He helps people for a living and does it with skill. AND HE DOESN'T USE BAD WORDS EVER!

Seriously messed up stuff about the cars. I tell people every day what I want from them tomorrow, and, just zip, zero, clueless.

Only person taking notes tonight at my talk was a dude older than me. All else fiddling with their watchphonecomputer. Depressed. Looking for high bridge. Not for me. For THEM!

On the bright side, at least now your garage door is probably going to get fixed so it won't come off its rollers.

Marcus, you are a much better person than I. First, I probably would have gone off in three different languages. Second, bodily harm would have been an understatement ..... Lol!

Seriously, this man does more for people standing right in front of us that are are "hiding" in plain sight than anyone I have ever met .....

Like I said, you are a better man than I .....

Swear all you want, keep in mind swears or cusses were all man made
around here Chevrolet is a swear word......really

Sorry to hear that, its true damage caused inside a garage usually by my wife
and that stupid lawnmower.......

Re: Is This Where I Say a Swear Word??

WTF is so bad about swearing? It is times like these I'm forced to recognize my part in the whole mess. The door being able to come off the rollers was not his fault. If I do not want a door opened I lock it. We cannot undo stuff and just need to move on. Lern how to forgive and we're forgiven.

Re: Is This Where I Say a Swear Word??

What's wrong with swearing?? I learned a long time ago that it doesn't help the situation one bit, you still have to deal with the problem. Sometimes, I do bite my tongue, though!

Re: Is This Where I Say a Swear Word??

Sounds like Marcus is the kind of guy that will "forgive a transgression"
Bummer for the vehicles. Bet it's a bigger bummer for the workman. He had to wait for you to come home and see the mess.
Lesson learned by all.
My "bummers" are really small when I watch the evening news and see families devastated by storms, fires and earthquakes.
In my business "Restoring the man" is more important than fixing a boo-boo.
Nice to hear there are still some people around that are concerned what comes out of their mouths.

Make sure your new garage door has a lock. Keeps everybody honest and out of trouble. Sorry to hear your anguish been there with rented spaces.

Swearing functions like a pressure relief valve, so don't regret letting some blast out from time to time. I think the reason we're admonished against using these words is only because they lose their effectiveness with overuse.

So, that being said, save 'em up and they'll be there for you when you need 'em!

As for the OP, get a better %&$*@& garage door and dock his ^%*#(& pay for the deductible on the insurance.

Hi Marcus, Sorry to hear about your mishap. I'm hijacking your thread a little here, wish it were under better circumstances. I hope we can meet up again at a V8 club meet. I really enjoyed visiting with you in Auburn. I went to Gettysburg in August and got some time in with JM, Jeff, Cecil and a whole bunch of other fordbarners. Wishing you the best with the repairs.

Seth

Oh no Marcus. Tell me this is not true? First thing give him a big tong lashing. Fix the dam door, so sorry to hear this from such a fine American. Shit happens, but we need to move forward. I'm in the line of fire because there's to much to do and not enough time to do it! I just purchased a 46 PU that was said to be all restored, well I backed it out of the storage building the first day home and hit the garage door, banged the fender up. Not happy me! But my best friend a body shop guy fixed it like new. Now I look back better when backing up! Humm my wife gave me the lashing, my reply was that I can't bend my old head back enough to see, her reply get rid of some old stuff and you'll have more room in the storage building, then she inserted what the hell am I going to do with all this crap when you die? My reply what makes you think I'm dying first? Her reply I see to that!!!!! LOL The sun comes up in the morning. Tomorrow is a new day. Be kind today because we need you tomorrow!!! Frank PKNY

Thank you, my friends - your comments were spot on about forgive and forget; if our Lord had not done so ..... I shiver to know the consequences! My hired hand is a recovering Methamphetamine addict, (not through my Drug Court), and still in the "fog" that can last a year or more: he has a family, and works part time for me and several others ..... He has no formal skills with a 7th grade education ..... Do I castigate him? No, we had a discussion about the reasons for rules. By the way, the door was FORCED off the tracks - not an inherent failure. Thanks for the words of encouragement and support, you truly are a wonderful family!

Marcus...you certainly did the right thing. Had you blown up at this gentleman, you could have sent him backward in his quest for freedom. Everything can be repaired and at some point, you'll have your vehicles looking good as new and you'll have a worker that is farther along in his recovery. He is probably beating himself up worse than you would do...everybody makes mistakes. In the future, please lock the doors...not only to prevent accidents like this but to prevent others liking your vehicles more than they think you do!

Capt. Kirk - You are, of course, correct on all counts (I am the Director of the Eighth Judicial District Drug Court, and try to help addicts every day) - and I should have added that the doors to all the garages are now secured.

Marcus...keep doing what you do!! If you're needing new sheetmetal or parts, I'm sure there's people here that have what you need and would be willing to help. These little setbacks make life exciting. I broke an axle a few days ago and have never been into one of these diff's...but I'm excited to get started!!...not so much spending the money though :)

It was a tongue in cheek remark. I take few things seriously anymore.
