G'Day from down under and intro

G'Day all,

Just thought I'd introduce myself.

I recently came over from the dark side (sold my 54 Chevy h/t of these last 25 years) and have bought a 41 Ford Super Deluxe convertible.

I'm on a learning curve, so hope to prevail on the wise heads here.

Thanks in advance.

Nice intro and welcome aboard "fortyonerag"!! As Tony said, we all have the same sickness here (and that's a good thing), and we are ready and willing to help you as much as possible.
Another member here, Glenn Sanders, recently aquired a 41 convertible as well, so you two will both benefit from helpful information that's posted here.

Welcome into the barn. Your 1941 was a unique model that was half way between the earlier 1940 and the later 42 thru 48. There are plenty of 1941 lovers here that can help when needed. My Pop bought a 41 after he got back from European theatre service in 1945. We had plenty of old Chevy sixes too but the Ford V8 is a favorite.

Welcome from across the ditch. My mate has a 34 Chev . Went on a road trip with him last year in the South Island. We had a drag race down the main street of Oamaru . My 34 Ford whipped him. -Quietened him down for a while -Karl

Yes, welcome. I think the 40/41 Fords were the best looking ones Ford ever made. Be nice to it.

fortyonerag, Here is another imported 1941 Ford from the USA. Very few 1941 Fords were sold here when they were new, on account of the war effort. I can only recall seeing one Fordor Sedan locally in the Sixties, and it finished up in a local junk yard many years later. I also saw the remains of a few Sedans in a wrecking yard out west. It seems that there were more 1941 Ford Utes. These Utes were made from Sedans. They were used by the Army. So, it is refreshing to see your Convertible and this Coupe over here and appreciated by enthusiasts in Australia. Your Convertible looks great.

Thanks mercman. I did read part of that a few years ago.

Anyway, that convert is one sweet car. I bet the 54 Cheby was nice too. I learned to drive in a 54 Belair 2 door sedan.
