One of 8 open cars uncovered after 60+ years 5 Attachment(s)
Here's a 1932 roadster that came from a group of 8 all open cars that were found in Illinois by 3 guys plus a killer load of NOS sheet metal. (Think the Atocha) The cars were 32 roadster, 33 roadster, 34 roadster, 35 roadster, 36 roadster, 36 cabriolet, 36 club cabriolet., 39 Lincoln Zephyr convertible sedan. I bought the 32. Some of the highlights of the NOS parts were, 34 front fender 32 grille shell, 35 and 36 coupe rears, 35-37 pickup front, 3 35 grilles, 3 36 grilles, 35 pickup grille, 40-41 pickup front. 2 33-34 pickup lower grille aprons, 37 coupe rear, some Model A fronts, and some good used sheet metal. The story I was told is that the guy who had this stuff bought these cars when they were just old used cars and kept them in not the best storage, most of the cars have rust issues do to two feet deep of racoon crap which cause floors to rust out completely. The 32 roadster has that problem, but I'm happy when I don't think about what I paid. When is the last time you've seen a 32 roadster that wasn't either street rodded or restored.

Re: One of 8 open cars uncovered after 60+ years Great !.... So; are you going to restore it, rod it, or just get it running and enjoy "as is" ?

Re: One of 8 open cars uncovered after 60+ years Some of the parts, but not all suffered (surface rust to varying degrees) from damp storage conditions.

Re: One of 8 open cars uncovered after 60+ years I would presume this is the same collection. Great stuff too bad it wasn't stored properly

Here's a photo of the 34 that was on an open trailer, since sold to California. When you looked inside this car all you would see is aluminum trailer front to back, sub rails questionable, but it doesn't look too bad in the photos. The 32 is about the same.

Re: One of 8 open cars uncovered after 60+ years What with the floor gone, this is a perfect candidate for a channel job! Make it a period correct early 50's hot rod!
By the way, the carb and intake are not original. Have you verified the rest of the engine? |

It looks like it at least had the intake and carburetor replaced since it has a two barrel carb on it. '32 V8's came with a one barrel Detroit Lubricator carb. It is a 21 stud engine though. Sal |
Re: One of 8 open cars uncovered after 60+ years How sad. Looks like another death by hoarding. As stewards of this wonderful commodity, you would hope that these people would do a better job of taking care of it. In any case, it's great that this stash has been rescued.

Re: One of 8 open cars uncovered after 60+ years At least they were stored.

Here are a couple of pictures of the 1935 Roadster that I bought out of this collection. Good old complete car with the same raccoon problems that nospartsman talked about. May sell to buy the 1936 Cabriolet out of the same collection?

Re: One of 8 open cars uncovered after 60+ years That 32 is just plain cool! No floors at all? Fred Flintstone would consider it done and drive it to work tomorrow. But seriously, you will get over the high price very soon and realize you own something really special.
