Finally finished 1 Attachment(s)
After several years and lots of distractions, the 35 Phaeton is finally done. Just got the license plates for it and now for the 'shake down' runs. A few trips up and down the road to 'see what falls off' and it will be back rolling again. The first project will be to get the brakes adjusted. I put the floaters on it and so far it just slows down instead of stopping.

Re: Finally finished Looks nice, very nice well done.
Are the floaters Ted's ones? If so give him a shout, he's on here "Flathead Ted" I think. others will no doubt chime in on how they set them up. More info would be good on the brake performance, does the pedal go all the way to the floor? Martin. |
Re: Finally finished That's a beautiful car. You should be very proud of it, but finished? hahaha you will keep doing little things to it for years. (as you should)

Re: Finally finished Very nice indeed! I really love the looks of a 35.
On your brakes, did you run the linings though a machine to shape them? |
Re: Finally finished Very nice car. Enjoy it.

Re: Finally finished Congrats, nice car!

Re: Finally finished Your car looks fabulous! Congratulations!
Interesting - the wheel bases on both your Phaeton and the Three Window Coupe are both the same at 112 " but your Phaeton looks positively huge visually compared to my "little" Coupe" |
Re: Finally finished Great looking car.

Re: Finally finished Ya just gota luv '35's don't ya. Is that a dual windshield I can see, if so, is it a Ford accessory or one from a aftermarket supplier of the day?
|
Re: Finally finished Beautiful, lucky man, interested in that extra screen, could you post a few pictures?
Thanks. |
Re: Finally finished Thanks for all the kind compliments! I think they are Teds floaters. My dad purchased them years ago, so I'm really not sure. The linings are the woven material instead of the recommended molded. So that explains some of the 'mushiness' (technical term). They were arched to the drums properly. I owned a brake shop for 30 years, so I am up on that. Might try the molded lining if adjustments don't improve things. The dual cowl is an aftermarket item purchased back in the '70's. I'll post some pictures of it later.
