My 32 Roadster Hello all , just wanted to post a few pics of our 32. I posted a pic of it with a Christmas tree in the back and a few people requested more pics of it so here they . This was my Dad's Roadster . He has Alzheimer's and does not have any memory left . I grew up with all the parts to this car . They were always hanging here and there, being moved and played with but unfortunately he never put it together . He always wanted it to be perfect but as far as he got was getting the frame painted. I decided to put the car together as it was, with all the different colors and the parts as they were and had been . Every color has a story and a meaning to me. Some people think it was painted like this on purpose but it was not . The body is as it was when it was drug out of the barn. The fenders used to be brush painted green from a 32 5 window my Dad parted out in the 60's . I pressure washed the green off and ended up what you see (my Dad always wanted the green off to see what was underneath ) Some original black paint and some primer and black on top of that in spots ? Then I polished them. The frame my Dad had painted long ago after hours and hours of work. The gas tank and frame horn covers were painted before I was born. The interior I got for free from a couple of good friends .I still have the seat from the 50's but it is very weathered. The stories go on and on but this is already getting long . Needless to say , the car means A LOT to me. I miss my Dad every day. Having his car and being able to enjoy it (more than words can describe) is as they say " priceless" :D

Re: My 32 Roadster That is a super nice car and even better story to go with it ! May you cherish it and the good memories of your Dad forever ! Merry Christmas !

Re: My 32 Roadster This really touched me. How lucky you are ! What a rolling tribute. If I had a choice of having my dad leave me this legacy or $300,000 grand, I would take what you got. Money is nice but in the end it's still just money. [ My dad's been gone many years - he didn't leave me either one ! ] The fact that you put this together the way you did, says a lot as to your feelings for your dad - The only thing that I would change, would be ownership from you to me ! But then I think everyone that looks at your ride would feel the same. - Congratulations

Re: My 32 Roadster Thanks for the great comments everyone!! They mean a lot . I am going to drive the Roadster today just for my Dad . Even if it's just to the coffee shop , it will be perfect !!
I hope everyone enjoys the their day !!! Here are a few more pics. The first one is just a few of my Dad through the years . He was a huge picture taker and I am fortunate to have thousands of pictures to enjoy . http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictur...ictureid=24711 Here is when we drug the Roadster body out of the barn. He had a few Roadster bodies along the way but he would sell them and go find a better one. Problem was that he sold the last one in 1971 and had also started a family around the same time so he ended up getting stuck without one . He had every other part but a body . He was always on the hunt and he found this one . There is a cool story that goes along with it but we will start with the pics . First one is when the door was opened for the first time in 20+ years . We had to dig it out . My Dad was a happy guy !! http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictur...ictureid=24710 Look at all that old junk that was in there ;) http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictur...ictureid=24715 Here I am in the back of the truck helping load . I had just turned 14 and he let me take a day off from school to come play !! http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictur...ictureid=24714 My Dad and I after she was loaded http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictur...ictureid=24709 Unloading http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictur...ictureid=24708 And the last for now , she is safe and my Dad was super happy and excited . This is in a good friends shop where the car stayed for a while . We lived in a residential area with a 2 car garage so he had to make room . I will post a pic of that later . It was a tight squeeze . http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictur...ictureid=24716 Merry Christmas Dad ! We all miss you . |

Your car is perfect, the nicest 32 roadster ever in my opinion, stance, engine, etc but best of all is your connection with your father. Many thanks for posting. Gordon. |
