New Barn Find 6 Attachment(s)
Well, after hanging out and watching what everyone else is having fun with I finally found what I was looking for. It's a barn find that was in Missouri covered with a tarp since around 1980. The car is a 1929 Model A Coupe with 1939 juice brakes. Anyway, here it is. Maybe someone will recognize it? Oh yeah, did I forget to say it runs?

Re: New Barn Find Seems to be in nice shape. Have you had it running yet? Keep us posted and welcome to The Barn!

What definition do you need? It was in a barn, covered since 1980.....pretty clear cut to me.......... I mean really, he has a new car and is happy and this is the reply you come back with? Why bother? |

Yo, Rattlesnake,
You're a blessed man to find such a really nice car!! It's got all the really good stuff. Vermin, my '29 coupe was stashed since '87 & is almost ready to fire up & drive. Are those REAL side raingutters? Mine just has "HIDE-EM" welt there. I wonder if REAL gutters were there originally??? If the Dog:cool: & I:D can answer any "29 coupe questions, just P.M. us. Re: New Barn Find Make sure it is save to drive and then put lots of miles on it before winter. You will have great memories all winter long and will really be looking forward to spring. Enjoy!
|
Re: New Barn Find I wouldn't keep it with all the rips in the seat. I'll take it off your hands.

Re: New Barn Find Very nice! Enjoy!

Re: New Barn Find Nice car. Drive it a bunch and make a list of things that you need to do this winter. The more familiar you are with the car the better you will be to judge what's necessary and what's for show. As you get some miles under your belt you may change your mind on what you want to do.Welcome to the Fordbarn.

Re: New Barn Find Not to be nitpicking, but in the interest of safety, it appears to me the left front wheel is of the earlier A type. Does the edge of the wheel touch the brake drum, or is there a gap? If there is a gap, that wheel would be unsafe to drive with on that car. Hope you take this the right way, its a nice car, just be safe... Jim

If in fact the front left wheel is the early style and is the only one on your car that is I would suggest you might consider swaping it to the spare wheel until you find the correct one. Enjoy the car. I luv it. |
Re: New Barn Find Would the fact that it has been converted to juice brakes affect that?

Re: New Barn Find Hey R/S Great looking little coupe !!..I wounder how the taillight got upside down ?.I have a 30 coupe,,,I love how Ford used the earlier roof on the latter coupe's with slight change's Have fun,, Greg out West |
Re: New Barn Find Thanks everyone. I can update ya'll a little bit on this car. The man I bought it from found it in Missouri stored in an actual barn where it had been sitting since around 1980 covered with a tarp. He bought it, brought it home, cleaned it up, fluids/battery/etc and started it up. It is still 6 volt. He was told it is an older restoration but the other party could not remember when (belonged to a past relative). He bought the car just recently with the only intention of turning it. I just got lucky for a change and was the second caller. The first caller didn't come thru with the cash, so I got my dad to go get it for me. I won't get to see it until I get home and go get it in 2 more weeks.
Current plans? I don't know yet. I was originally looking for something to rod with a little chop etc. Now, I'll just wait until I see it. My wife wants me to clean it and turn it then find something not as complete for my project. I don't know...it would really not be right to take it down if it's as nice as it looks in the pictures. |
Re: New Barn Find Please don't "rod" it, it's too nice. Having built a few (looked stock from the outside) I know what you want to do, but please find an old body and put it on a Brookeville or So-Cal chassis. JMO

Re: New Barn Find Way too nice of a body to make into a rod!

Re: New Barn Find To be honest, I'm really leaning toward cleaning it up with a new interior etc. My brother has a 30 Coupe and it would be kinda cool getting them out together. Maybe I can get my wife to look the other way while I find another candidate. After all, it's better to ask forgiveness...which I do have a lot of practice doing.

Re: New Barn Find Hey nice car!
I like them original looking. Does anyone know what colors it is? Thank you in advance. Jim |
Re: New Barn Find You could always just lower it and change wheels, but keep the banger and 3 speed like these examples. Best of both worlds IMO. Keep all the original stuff to convert back when you get older. http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/p.../ontheroad.jpg http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps241bfe11.jpghttp://i417.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps632b0dc9.jpg Last one is mine i just bought. Has all to convert back when wanted to above photo, which i think looks good too, just not ready for that look yet.
