How Many Years Have You Owned Your Car Or Truck?
 

I have owned my `37 Chevy coupe for 14 years, my `35 Ford Cabriolet for 7.

I have to wonder who has had theirs the longest. Mike Burch has had his cars for a very long time and may hold the record.

I got my 36 Cabriolet to restore 1987, got 40 Ford Pickup 1990 / sold it (Darn it) in 2009 to finish the 36. So it was 19 years for the 40 & so far 26 for the 36

Bought My 1940 Ford Convertible in 1963. Still drive once in awhile just for fun.

Bought my 29 Business Coupe in 1976, my 33 Fordor Victoria Convertible Sedan in 1981 and my 29 CCPU in 1981, all 3 were in pieces. all 3 are drivers now

I graduated high school in 1982 driving my 36 4 door sedan and got my 36 roadster in pieces the following year. I still have both , although I haven't driven the sedan any farther than my neighborhood for the last 15-20 years.

1929 FORD "A" Roadster - Bought in 1961 - 52 years.
1934 FORD Phaeton..... - Bought in 1963 - 50 years.
1935 FORD Cabriolet ... - Bought in 1967 - 46 years.

56 Chevy - bought new - 57 years next month.
my 'modern' car is a pickup, bought in 71 - 42 yrs.
old fords... 13 yrs is the longest.
How about the guy in the so-cal regional group, Bernie Couch,
bought his 32 roadster in 41 - 72 years !!
And, I think his brother bought his ford a year earlier - 73 years.
These guys have been mentioned in magazines a few times. The story was in the V8 Times, a few years ago.

I bought my 1937 Ford coupe at an estate auction in August of 1968, and drove it home. It had 14,275 miles on it then, so it will soon be 45 years.

55 years for my '35 coupe. I bought in 1958 for a whopping (at the time) $200. The attraction was the low mileage, 19K. It just turn 40K last month.

Bought my 49 F1 in August 1973 - coming up 40 years. Cost $100 and was driveable ... sort of - you have a lot of flexibility when you're 15. Spent a few more zeros since.

Purchased my 34 for $250 in 1952, got married 1955 and my wife let me keep it so now I have had it for 61 years.

My 1936 Ford Woodie has been in my family since the mid-1960's, when it was given to my mom from my father's father as a gift. That means 45+ years in my family.

Family lore says he found it in a barn in New Hampshire, covered in hay.

I have owned it since my mom passed away 4 years ago and left it to me.

Now it cruises the streets of Jamaica Plain, (Boston), full of neighborhood kids squealing with delight.

I am slowly restoring it.

We've had our '36 Phaeton about 3 1/2 years.

There is a fellow in our vicinity whose mother bought him a '36 Phaeton while he was in high school. The family owned a gas station and car repair business and the car never left his ownership, nor was it ever heavily modified.

He changed over to sealed beams, and may have put hydraulic brakes on it, otherwise it's as original as you would ever find. He's in his 90s' but the car will go to his son.

So '49 to 2013, 64 years. Not that he's a barner, but that is the longest ownership I know of.

Bought her in 89, ran it for a couple of years, then tore it apart. Didn't really know what I was going to do with it but I knew it would not be stock. Finally found vintage stuff and mocked it up last week. I hope to have her completed by summers end.

I purchased my '36 Ford in September 1952... That will be 61 years come September.
I bought it from the original owner for $125., the odometer showed 51k and change.
The odometer now shows 39K... Doing the math, I have driven "Henry" 88k, not to bad for a car that I paid $125. for... With all of the repairs and modifications, I have spent right at $2,300. during the years I have owned the car...
I started a log book on the car when I bought it... The first expenditure was the purchase of hydraulic brakes from a '41 Ford... The log book documents every expenditure for parts/repairs...

I bought my 46 pickup in 1968 for 25.00 was going to use it for parts until a friend talked me in to keeping it, coverted it to a v8 and 12 volt system.45 years. ago.

Mine has been in the family 53 years. Avatar pic was taken the day we brought it home
in 1960. Sold it to my bro in '68 when I went over-seas, then bought it back from him in
'76 a bit worse for wear. Moving ahead at glacial speed; and now my first car is on my
bucket list!

I saw David Mc avatar car, number nine above, at the Grand National and it is really a beauty. David did a wonderful job and the pictures do not do it justice. Thanks for showing it to us and the details you went to, to do the job.
