Strange posts

I seem to notice some very strange stories on here for several days. I think that someone (several) is pulling our chain! And they are pretty good at it.

Re: Strange posts

I'm tryin to plan out what I'm goin to do, I have my elderly grandparents and our farm to take care of, I restored my 1944 Willys MB jeep, I'm not much on the Flathead as far as getting the valve train and gears out but bearings and rings heads I can put in. I'm takin care of my grandparents now with our farm and cattle, I cant do the car right away I got out of HS three years ago and taking care of grandparents and the farm since Been hard to find a job. But I have a dream and not gonna hold back, it'll take a while but I'll do it, I'm gonna look at two engines and see what they look like. I'm not tryin to make enimes or pull chains just explaining what I been through, I'm a really good guy once ya get to know me. I'll pray for everybody I met and new friends I'll meet in the future. Hope your not mad at me sir. Love JD. God Bless. Jesus is king.

I see it too Jerry. Several new posters within the last week but they seem to be genuine (except for a couple obvious spams). Maybe just a surge of new folks. If you're referring to Flathead man2, I can kind'a relate. I've been a hot rod nut since I was 8-years old. When my dad bought me my '41 Ford pickup in 1980 when I was 17 I couldn't get enough flathead information to satisfy me. I wiped out the local library and started ordering mail-order books.

Imagine if my first choice of information was the internet. Where would I go?

There were a few members who had checked out my profile who had no posts but who had been members for months. There is one on my profile tally presently. There were a few non posting profile peekers a few weeks ago too. Not sure what to make of it.

I wouldn't worry about the profile checking. I think I looked at profiles when I first started too. that is the way to get to peoples albums to see what cars they have and to look at what threads they posted on. Kinda a good way to quickly see who is imparting wisdom on cars like yours to to get a feel for people..

I look at them too; I really enjoy looking at the photos the members post of their cars. But several weeks ago there were a few who had been on for many months and still had no posts. Not worried just something I noticed.

I really enjoy FordBarn and try and read as much as I can on V-8 and Model A forums. I have met some good people on FordBarn and have purchased several good parts from FordBarn folks. A great place on the internet. TM

The ones who haven't posted are probably doing the research the correct way, through the SEARCH function. I know we also have an overactive poster. Youthful exuberance.

Now just because we can't trust our government officials much anymore, we are overrun by illegal aliens and some little dictator in NK want to bomb the snot out of us if he could, that is no reason to get all paranoid. lol

Re: Strange posts

I think the "strange story" is jerry himself. he puts out this post and then won't explain what the hell he's talking about. Strange.

And how did flatheadman 2 come to be the prime suspect? He's young and full of questions, just the kind of guy that we all were at his age. The only thing I'd say to flatheadman2 is that politics and religion don't belong on this Forum.

I don't really pay attention to the odd questions as someone may learn from it. What I've noticed is the increased amount of crankiness in some. Gotta get those people back on thier meds!

Re: Strange posts

I think our little community is getting bigger all the time . word is out and the fordbarn is the place to be . THE LAST THING I want is to loose some of the great talents we have on here ,because this web-site gets over-run with fruitcakes and ding-dongs ,both of which are great with a tall glass of milk, but they don,t belong here ! . sometimes you have to wade through the mud to get to the clear water ,befor you dunk your head .thats what I do ,,,,.Jerry ,your,re not the only one who has noticed some new frequent flyers on here dust piles up on an unused surfaces, just wipe them away. WOW I,m full of one liners today !:) I love this site and don,t want it to change just my 5 cents mp

TStiles 04-01-2013 04:47 PM

Re: Strange posts

You're right, the fordbarn is becoming the place to be. The greatest attraction to this site, imho, is the unbelievable wealth of experience and knowledge, coupled with an unselfish willingness among this community to contribute solutions and assistance.

I’m strongly put off by those who seem to endlessly camp on the site, dominating threads, creating needless threads, and offering little value. This is exacerbated when these people ask questions that have previously been covered and for which answers can be easily found by using the search feature or by doing a little research through reading.

The past several days’ contributions by a nameless individual or two are enough to drive me away from this otherwise quality experience. I agree with you Mike. The LAST THING this site needs is fruit cakes and ding dongs. Maybe I'm getting too grumpy... And I've not been around this site long enough to bitch.

Re: Strange posts

I don't mind being youthful and curious.... An average of 36 posts a day will cause people to ignore you.... I do imagine it is an age thing the way younger people are texting and face booking all the time. Oh crap... I just talked about younger people and included myself in the old bracket........

malpais 04-01-2013 05:16 PM

Re: Strange posts

I don't think Jerry's post is strange. I agree that, even after watching and occasionaly posting for over 5+ yrs , some recent posts have been unusual. Many that belong on HAMB, and who wonders about a lot of these things before aquiring engine or car? And who needs to indicate education and religion? The advice on here is amazing and the atmosphere like old friends over coffee, no matter contributor background. The info on FordBarn is amazing and indicates knowledge beyond formal education!

Not that it's a huge issue - I have learned to skip posts by certain users - probably like people have learned to skip my inane posts!

jim1932 04-01-2013 05:55 PM

Re: Strange posts

I think the HAMB type posts over here tend to be people who don't like the shall we say atmosphere over there. I'm a semi younger womanizing beer drinking don't mind that's on the women sort and some of those guys still put me off.
