That is NOT one of our boxes!

There are many differences in what we do and the picture.

As mentioned above, between buying cores, cleaning, new parts, machining and labor, our pricing is still very reasonable.

I have a box from Randy's father (Mel) And after being in the car for 25+ years, it still works like new.

I have one of Randy's boxes in my '29. I have a modified Model A and didn't need the hand controls or the light switch, it's a very nice upgrade to the 2 tooth that I had in it before. Randy is very easy to work with and seems to be willing to answer questions, I would buy from him again!

These manual boxes have recirculating ball sector gears rather than the 2 tooth or 7 tooth
stock gears, and if not mistaken, like other boxes made by Gemmer and others from the '30's on, there are only 2 adjustments. One is the sector side screw and the other are shims at the lower cover . No need to remove the housing such as for the 2 tooth eccentric adjustment.

I just put Randy's box in my frame up build. Going to get another for the roadster.

Mel Gross's mail box will not take a message, nor does he respond to e-mailing -- is there any other way to access information about his F1 steering box? I have '31 Pickup
Thanks Guys

1998 i bought a 29 phaeton over the phone and had Mel go to look at what i had bought, said it needed some work so i had Mel take it to his shop, rebuilt the front end w/F100 steering, his borg warner overdrive and cast brake drums pluss other things, i flew out from florida to work on the car, Mel picked me up every day and brought me to his shop after 3-4 days my wife flew out and we drove the car home to FL. Still have the car and the steering is still GREAT, love the OD and stops great.thanks RANDY

Re: F100 Steering by Randy

Mr Gross is highly recommended by my Model A Club here in Miami. I have absolutely no information such as address to send what, a ball-park price -- lots of things I don't even know to ask.
Maybe we're in a different time-zone
Thanks

Re: F100 Steering by Randy

OK< I just got in touch will Mel!! He'd been hospitalized (nothing serious) and will send me the information shortly -- I have time. Saying the 1930/31 requires no modifications, tho, 1928/29's do. This gentleman came recommended to me by people I trust -- but this web-site started that search.
Thanks
