- I restored a '30 Coupe 40 years ago while I was in high school. It was a 3 and a half year project at the end of which I had a near perfect car (I was obsessive about doing everything perfect). I did all the disassembly, assembly, painting, etc., myself. Quite a learning experience. Sadly, life got in the way and I was not able to hold on to it for very long. So, I always wanted to have another one and finally pulled the trigger. My new A is an exact replica of the old one except for the color. But, it is not in nearly as good condition. That's ok. It's a very clean driver and that's all I wanted. But, it does need a fair bit of mechanical work to bring it up to spec for safe driving.
I also own a 1988 BMW 325i (my daily driver) that I just got done putting a newly rebuilt engine in, and a 1974 Jensen-Healey that I'm doing a full mechanical restoration on.
