- I loved working on my cars but the aging process has limited my ability so now I just tinker. I've been in the hobby since 1981 and after 28 years decided to try at a blue ribbon vehicle. My Blue Ribbon 31 Truck that was retired after the San Diego Meet. Most of my involvement has been touring and will continue as long as I'm able. My driver is a 400A with ALL the touring goodies. The greatest accomplishment was assembling from boxes a 31 Deluxe Delivery one month prior to leaving for the Lake Geneva Meet in the 80's. The only break down was a flat tire in 4200 round trip miles which I credit with luck more then mechanical skill. My father was an avid race car owner in the 30's thru 50's. It was "helping" him in the garage while still in diapers that I grew to love the old iron. I would sit behind the wheel of his midget for hours and pretend I was driving while dad worked on the car. When I got older I was really allowed to help him. I sure miss those days.
