The pickups did not come with rear bumpers originally. I have seen installations that vary from home made angle iron to what look like regular passenger car bumpers modified to fit. You may have to imagineer it yourself if you want rear bumpers.

I must be the only Nutcase on here who had rear bumpers on his pickup when he got it and took them off!!!

I didn't like the fact that you could't see the licence plate with the bumper in the way
or the nicely painted rear axle I just rebuilt
.
I think the brackets came off a 4 door sedan , but the bed hung out behind it several inches.

If I put a tow bar on I would use the bumper brackets that I found at a swap meet that someone had all ready cut the curved bumper supports off of .

No offence to any one with rear bumpers on their pick up, and I am sure one reason for doing so is safety. That being said, I think model A trucks with rear bumpers really look horrible, Sorry just my opinion.....

I'm shure it offends the purists, and the license plate is obscured, but rear bumpers actually do protect the rear fenders.

I solved the license plate problem by mounting it above the tail light like they did in 1932. It required a modification to the bracket to allow it to clear the bed. I still need a '32 tail light bucket to have a license plate light (fortunately they are available as reproductions).

Good idea, Charlie. I think I'll do likewise and suffer the wrath of the purists. Heck, Henry put big tires and skis on one of his, didn't he?

As has been said many times, it is your car, do whatever makes you happy. Most purists in general are at Ford only shows or a Ford site. Multi make car shows don't seem to mind the odd alteration. I also have a 29 open cab Roadster pickup and I may well add the full bumper this winter. Wayne

I had already decided to install a full rear bumper on my 29 RDSTR PU as there was a 1930 on the front when i bought it. He gets a new front bumper.
