very good guess fred, thats what i would think, take the truck out and drive it for 10 miles or long enough for the tires to warm up, shaking will probably go away, if not you may have a buldge or seperating tread on the tire, time to take it to a tire shop and have them check it

If not check the run out on the rim. Jack the truck up one wheel at a time and spin the wheel and see if it wobbles. I use a jack stand and tape ruler to the top of it so it sticks out at a 90 deg. to the stand. Put the end up to the rim and give the wheel a spin. You shouldn't have more than about 1/8" of gap between the rim and the end of the ruler. If you do you need to straighten the rim.

When I park it in the garage over the winter or for extended periods of time I park ieach wheel on a piece of 2x8 lumber. I cut one 8 foot pieces into 2 foot lengths. No more flat spotting like when I parked on the cold, damp cement.

really? hmm never heard of it but maybe its the moisture in the air in the tire causing issues with the extremely cold cement and the wood acts as an insulator.

Al:
AT the recent Mountains, Music and Model A's I had the chance to talk to Brent Terry about this as a follow up on the bodywork seminar. I could never understand how heating up a spoke with a torch and then quenching it with a wet rag could work. It has everything to do with having the spoke constrained by the rim and the hub. As you heat it up it cannot expand because it is constrained. As you quench it, the spoke will shrink. I have not done this yet but plan on doing it real soon on some wheels before painting. There are a couple of postings you can find here that address wheel straightening. I have no clue who can do it in FL but it has to be easier than frame straightening.

If any one tries this, report back with your results. Just a thought.

Before I paint or powder coat wheels, I jack up the front of the car, loosen one front brake so it will spin free. Mount each wheel so it is next to a stationary object like a heavy wood block or a tool box and spin the wheel. It will scrape the stationary object on every revolution. measure the space when it's free. I once did a bunch of 21 inch wheels and found the best one to be 1/8 inch out. 19s are usually better.

You can also check for a wheel being out of round using this method by just jacking the wheel up just enough so it clears the floor and then spinning it around and see how far it is off the floor as it turns.

Call Steve Becker at Bert's in Denver ((800-321-1931) for the name of the guy in Denver that does spoke wheels. He's done several for me with excellent results. Ralley American in California also does A wire wheels.
