Default carb for riley 2 port? 12v to 6v?

What is the best carb and intake setup for a Riley 2port B motor? Another question, the chassis is 12v and the motor was swapped from a 6v car. so the starter generator and dist are 6v and the coil, battery and lights are 12v. Whats the best way to integrate the two of these?

The distributor doesn care, so no change there.

Some people keep using the starter on 12 volts, but I wouldn't subject my starter to that abuse. You can change the field windings to 12 volt windings.

The stock generator will charge a 12 volt battery fine with no change.

For the Riley B (his designation, not Ford) head the recommendation was Jahns solid skirt pistons, a Mallory distributor and a 1 1/2" Zenith updraft carburetor. George said 80-85 MPH was expected in a roadster equipped that way.

Strombergs are a great era correct carb for ohv motors. Single or dual carb set up would work well. They're fairly easy to tune, and you can even buy the stromber 97 brand new today. I believe it's official name is "genuine stromberg" not the speedway motors attempt at the 97 reproduction.

I have no experience with Riley heads. My choice for any A-B engine would be dual updrafts for ease of setup. No special jetting, pressure regulator or fuel pump is needed with updraft carbs. Model B carbs should be the best for dual updraft setup because of larger venturi size and the high speed jet. The dyno tests that I've seen and believe, shows that a pair of up draft Zenith carbs give as much horsepower boost as dual down draft carbs. I do run dual B carbs on two of mine with 5.9 heads.
