Default 36 Cabriolet vs Roadster

Hi Barners,

I know this is an elimentary question. I have a friend that owns a 36 Ford. He is about to sell. As a matter of fact, I will list it on Fordbarn for him. He doesn't know if it is a 36 Cabriolet or a 36 Roadster. I want to be certain.
What are the obvious differences I can tell him to look for?
Thanks,
Bruce/CT

Cabriolets had roll up windows and roadsters used side curtains. How about a couple of pictures to see if there is anything else he overlooked?

The windshield is another quick way to ID. The Cabriolet (and Convertible Sedan) has a windshield frame that looks and mounts very similar to that of a closed car, while the Roadster (and Phaeton) have the windshield mounted on stantions that fasten to the cowl.

Were the doors also shorter on the Roadster?

Cabriolet & Convertible sedan have same dash , have wider dash [ front to back] at the top than the roadster. Cabriolet may have come from the factory with glove box clock like the convertible sedan. I do not think the roadster did.

Only the convertible sedan had a factory installed glove box clock.

If it has roll up side windows it is a cabriolet. If it does not have roll-up side windows, it is a roadster. Both are very desirable, depending on your needs. I have a 1936 convertible coupe (cabriolet), which I bought, as was never able to find a 1936 roadster in mint condition at a reasonable price. When selling it, lots of pictures really help.
