Default 1954 Ford Mainline Sedan Brakes

I am trying to make sure that I will be able to stop when I need to, and I was wondering if any has used the power brake assembly out of another car on a 54. If they have what did they use and did it perform the way you had hoped it would.

Put a duel master on my 54, that helped, sure you could put the vacuum buster behind it with no trouble.Master was for a Farmont, worked great.

What year of Fairmont? And did you use the booster out of it also?

I think all years had the same master, I did't use the boster, but am sure you can if you want the vacuum assist. You do have to get a junction block to put in the brake light switch, it goes in the line to the front or rear chamber of the master. I think it was a 78 or 79?

I used the complete front spindles from a '70 full sized Mercury on my '54 and converted it to disc brakes. The upper ball joint worked as it was, the '54 lower is small in diameter than the Merc lower, so I made a stainless tapered bushing similar to a tapered axle bushing. I used the Merc master cylinder, which came with a booster, however, I didn't use the booster, just the master cylinder. I made the complete change in 3 hours and had great brakes.
