Default Lil Regulator assistance please

I needed a new regulator for my tractor, the only 12v regulator in stock at NAPA was a VR428

The wiring shows it to be

I terminal for ignition
A terminal for the battery
S terminals for stator
F terminal for field

As my tractor has a generator, I assume I connect my armature wire to the S-stator-terminal on the regulator?

The VR428 is a replacement for Ford Alternator regulators, just verifying it will be okay with my generator.

Thanks

There are 2 different types of generator fiels setups--one makes a ground for the fiels, the other adds power for the field --different regulators that won't interchange---and using the wrong one can damage both generator and regulator

the other job of a regulator is to protect the generator from overloading itself and burning up (amp regulation) this has to be matched to the generators max safe output

A regulator for an alternator won't work for a generator

Not sure what you have in your area, but Tractor Supply Company (TSC) carries a lot of tractor parts as do other farm supplies. You could most likely order a part online and have it two days.
