F1 Pickup Serial Number Location (Frame)
I looked in the normal place (on the frame) for an early Ford serial number (driver's side top of frame rail by steering box), but on this '48-'50 F1 pickup I don't find it there. I want to make sure that the seller's title and the stamped frame serial number agree before I buy the pickup. Where else on the F1 frame should I look?

Re: F1 Pickup Serial Number Location (Frame)
I have a 48 f1 and the # is on the frame, it took a lot of scraping
and cleaning to find it, so you may have to try again, the # was also on a plate attached to the inside of the glove box door.. |

Re: F1 Pickup Serial Number Location (Frame)
I found it on the F3 on the frame rail but don't recall which rail it was on. I think it was closer to the firewall than the radiator., very faint

They are lightly stamped so along with the wire brush, shine a good flashlight at an angle. It will have a star then the serial number followed by another star. Some plants only stamped the digits without the 98RC or 97HC prefix. The serial number should also be stamped on the data plate that's pinned to the firewall and on the rating plate that is screwed to the glovebox door. |

Re: F1 Pickup Serial Number Location (Frame)
I just checked my 48 F1.. the # is on the drivers side on top of the frame..
there are 2 holes about 6 inches apart and the # is between those 2 holes near the steerring box, mt brother in law's 50 F1 is in the same place, the # is not stamped deep so you have to clean well.. |
