cool old trucks
hey Barn Buds!!
My friend just picked up a few trucks and I thought I'd share the intersting one with you. The first one is a complete and ready 40 ford firetruck and the second a 1939 Ford ambulance, one of 5 built for the Army ambulance trials. |

Ironfly28 ............................
Here is an old 1936, I think, firetruck that used to belong to the Volunteer Fire Dept. of Reedy, West Virginia. I took these pictures at a Car Show, about 1975. I don't know what ever happened to it. Have anybody seen it lately ? MIKE Last edited by FL&WVMIKE; 09-14-2010 at 12:41 PM. |

Nice finds. I don't quite understand the boxes in the side of the ambulance.

I bet that they were an "add-on" by somebody, who used the ambulance as some kind of vendor truck. MIKE |

Re: cool old trucks
The roadster windshield on the open cab 36 firetruck is very interesting. I wonder if that was 36 passenger car stuff?

1941 Firetruck here. Just getting started on the restoration. Any suggestions or references would be greatly appreciated. btw.. it's spent only 1 year outside, so, it's in really good shape.

Re: cool old trucks
Love the 1940 firetruck....smaller and could have been used for pump and roll for wildland(grass) fires....shorter wheel base....just my thoughts---retired fireman---Gump

Re: cool old trucks
Now, that is a very cool panel truck. Wish I had one to deliver parts for the NAPA store where I work. I get to use a worn out Ford Windstar.

Re: cool old trucks
I know this is an old thread but I gotta ask. Is this 1939 Ford vin number 99T-50772 visible on top of frame and on bellhousing?
I did YEARS of research on this truck, would love to tell someone. I purchased mine at Romo Auto Wrecking in Fresno, Ca probably 10 or more years ago. If this was mine, it is missing hood and/or front fender is missing/damaged. I still own most of engine (locked up) and damaged hood, possibly damaged fender? At any rate, I'd love to communicate to owner. Please contact me at smog_guy57@ yahoo.com or 559-361-8249 Don. |

Re: cool old trucks
This didn't insert where I thought it would. I'm talking about the 1939 Ford 1 1/2 ton Ambulance that has the metal cabinets built into it. VIn 99T-50772? Posted in 2010. Love to talk to new owner. Thanks, Don
