Default Smoke in the cabin of my 31 Coupe

Can anyone tell me why all of a sudden I am getting a lot of white smoke inside the cabin of my coupe when I accelerate? Based on the smell it is definitely burning oil and not an electrical problem.

I did an oil change a few days ago and I have been driving the car a little hard but I don't see any oil leaking on the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe. I do have some oil coming out of my oil filler cap but it doesn't seem to be getting on anything that would cause it to smoke.

How do I keep the oil from coming out of the oil filler cap and getting all over the engine and engine pans?

Check the bottom bolt at the rear of the valve cover and the bolts/gaskets on the oil return pipe on the valve cover.

If they leak your fan may blow the oil particles onto the exhaust manifold and into the cab via air leaks etc. It has happened to me.

I use some ss wool as used in the kitchen to clean pans etc. and put it into the oil filler cap to stop oil mist from escaping onto the engine pans and the starter motor. Make sure that it is properly secured in the cap.

Could possibly be blow-by.

How much oil did you put in when you changed it?

i have to run mine a little over full (v8 oil pump) . i used to get some out the filler untill i put a K&N filter on it . i am also installing a 'pcv' valve because when i go a long distance at 60-65 mph , it seems to build crankcase pressure . just my ideas ............. steve

You can always build a road draft tube out of PVC pipe like someone on the barn did. Just do a search for 'fumeaze'

If rings are good, there should be no blow-by at all.If you are useing anti freeze and have a head gasket leak it will make a lot of white smoke, while oil burning will make blue smoke &very rich fuel mixture will produce black smoke.

I also had white smoke in the coupe and it was as stated above, it was a leaking head gasket !
