Thanks for the slides Mr. Bidonde. I use a bolt from the hardware store to accomplish what Bob shows in his graphic. I learned to do this here on the forum a couple years back.

A 1/2" x 20 threads x 1" bolt, can be threaded into the upper carb half where the filter screen normally resides. If you run a side mounted oil filter, it must be 3/4" long. The fuel line, ferrule and fitting can then be inserted and held up against this bolt as the fitting is tightened until the ferrule is permanently seated onto the line and in its proper place. Loosen the ferrule fitting a bit and remove the bolt.

Of course the bolt size matches the filter screen threads.

Be sure the nuts in the junction box are tight. A loose of even sung nut can cause your engine to die due to loss of electrical contact.

I'm still curious about the piston replacement. I would not be calling him "my mechanic" any more. Did they actually sell you on this?

Appears I have lost fire from the coil. New coil installed, so not the coil. Have I lost ground? Loose wire? Everything appears to be snug and in good shape.

I lost fire once, it was an intermittent ignition switch. Another time it was the secondary coil wire. With the ignition switch I bypassed the switch, with the coil wire I cleaned the ends and cleaned inside the terminals in the coil and distributor cap. One other time it was a self inflected , after clean the points and checking the gap I didn’t put the rotor back in .

Back out the wire going into the distributor about 5/8 of a turn. When the engine heats up that tab below the plate CAN expand a little and just barely touch the distributor housing. It's worth a try. simple to do, and cost is $0.
