Default mallory unilte distributor

Is anybody running a Mallory unilite distributor with a y-block and overdrive tranny. I can't seem to get a straight answer from there tech support whether or not it will damage the module when you shift out of o.d. My understanding is when you kick down the switch under the gas pedal to shift out of o.d it momentarily shorts the points out in a conventional distributor to release the torque of the motor to allow it to shift out so in theory why would it hurt the module?

It will short the module in some cases, and some modules don’t like that. An additional relay will solve that. Wasn’t too far back that came up here, maybe someone better with the search function than me can link it.
