Model A Fellas please read this
Going forward if you see something that is off topic,
DO NOT reply to the post. REPORT IT to Ryan or I. Don't make a new seperate post complaining about it or attack who ever is posting. That only causes issues and it won't be allowed anymore for a hand full of guys that try to take control of posts that are causing issues. Ryan and I are going to start closing accounts of guys who seem to take it upon themselves to complain about how we post about Old Fords vs what we post about Old Fords. That won't continue. Enough is enough. No more warnings. You post a complaint of WHAT WE ALLOW AND ON HOW WE POST ABOUT FORDS and stir things up - your account will be closed. Report the off topic post to Ryan or I and then get back to enjoying Model A's. Thanks, Cob Administrator Last edited by Cob; 02-17-2013 at 09:22 PM. |

Awesome site. Glad you keep it in good order. I do appreciate the humor of many of the Barners. This site is invaluable? How do you finance it. Can we contribute? Send me a message and I will.

Hey Ryan and Cob,
I'm slow , but finally read your input/caveat! It is a pleasure to know people of character...as you!! Needless to say, NOBODY should be made to feel inferior/not wanted here by anybody...while using YOUR site/resources. Here's celebrating 100% compliance |

Thank you. I am a new member and really enjoy the site. The amount of information you can get from the search function has saved me so much time and money. But I have seen people attacked, in a rude form, when they are new and ask a question. Thank you so much for your time and effort.

Wouldn't that loose a lot of historical answers that people have posted about how they do things? You do have the ability to search this info.

I am an absolute newby to the site but a kind of a grammarian.
"REPORT IT to Ryan or I." Should to be: "REPORT IT to Ryan or me." Sorry, but that is one of my pet peeves. |

DT guy, your going to be posting a lot here then. Not everyone is using spell check nor are concerned about grammar. Just let it go and learn about old fords. It's what this site is about.

Re: Model A Fellas please read this
I made a basically humorous post that was very loosely linked to a Model A item and it was enjoyed by a few other posters but it was closed in about a day. I was not able to read all the replies so I don't know if it "went bad" but the thread is no longer there.
So heads up, these guys are really serious. Both the moderators and the purists. Tread the thread cautiously and keep it Model A restoration oriented. |

Haven't visited in a while and just saw the new comments! Thanks for a job well done! I got tired of reading the "replys" from the "experts" about how wrong some procedures were and had just about stppped logging on.
Re: oiling the wheel studs as an example......an old trucker told me many years ago that the only lug nuts you didn't oil were the ones you wanted to snap off.........I still oil the studs. Thanks again. |

So many young folks have not had the opportunity to learn the basics of automotive maintenance. They have not been exposed to clutches, carbs, generators, points and electrical systems with no fuses. I am proud of the patience and skill demonstrated in carrying these new Ford fans through their difficulties.

You see where the problem is? Your expert told you always oil lug nuts! Ford in the FORD Econoline Service manual and Owners manual states "Never use oil or grease on studs or nuts." (Wanted to use a Ford reference on the Fordbarn.) Whose expert is correct? Yours, Ford, both, neither? What makes matters worse is when reading a contradiction to long held beliefs one often thinks the other guy is an ass. One should keep in mind "There is more than one way to skin a cat." Just so you don't get upset with me, I found almost as many "lube" as "no lube" on the internet. So I can't say who is right.

Gentlemen -
Thanks again for this great venue and all the work it takes to keep it afloat. We, meaning me and a few other folks, "older guys", are not as proficient at this computer stuff - but you keep it real and clear as far as rules and regs. It is also very easy to navigate and learn scores of good information. If folks have real a complaint lets say of a political nature, then I recommend taking the FORD out to the local coffee shop and discuss the worlds problems then and there. The FORD benefits from the exercise, the neighbors get to see a true piece of American Iron, and you get to catch up with others on a level playing field - thus hearing from all sides (hopefully). Thanks again and I want to tell you that I truly benefit from your site! Be well - SHEC |

New member, but not new to the sight. Every since I bought my A, and made it my daily, I have been coming to this sight looking for answers to a few of my problems or concerns, and have found for the most part that everyone is willing to advise or at least point others in the right direction. Putting 150 to 200 miles a week on my car has made this sight invaluable to me.

Re: Model A Fellas please read this
To start off this is my first post, I'm working on a 1931 Ford Model A Murray body. It was me and my Dads project car, before we really got anywhere with it he passed away. I've been working on it with my spare time (there's not a lot lately) but I called a professional to help out. He found a crack in the block and told me the motor is no good, it was real kick in the teeth. So I'm real motivated to get this project on the road.
I'm looking for an good engine in the Jacksonville FL area Ill drive a ways it I have to. I'll take any advice about the car, there's so much about the car that I never got to learn. |

Re: Model A Fellas please read this
I think some engine cracks can be fixed. So look on this site for some answers-I think there are some posts on this subject.
Also you may want to start your own post one this site about this subject rather than using this area of posting.
