transmission disassembly
im trying to disassemble a transmission. how does the front output shaft come out, ive hamered with brass punch but cant get it out. thanks john

If you are referring to the cluster gear shaft, which I think you are, it is a very slightly tapered shaft. It only can be removed from front to rear. If you try to force it you can crack the case. You probably will not see the taper as it is very slight. Maybe only a thousandth or 2.

The cluster shaft needs to be tapped out the front of the case, because the rear shaft hole in the case is slightly smaller.
The reverse idler shaft, of course, can only come out the rear of the case. |
