Default What have I got ?

Hi all,

I just got myself a Model T coupe body. Not much left of it, but it has the doors, which I hear is a good thing. I know it's a later one, but does anybody know of any features that would tell me what year it is ? I will post some pics as soon as I get it out of the bush.

Orgo, a 26-7 will have the gas tank in the cowl under what looks like a cowl vent.

Orgo, The fuel tank is in the cowl section, the firewall is different to early models. There are several distinguishing signs, I`m still learning. Monte

OrgO ...........................
That body is in such good shape, in spite of some rust, you just wonder what happened to the rest of it. ???? Is that original paint ?
I hope that you are a restorer and not a rodder. You can make it happen.

It could be a '27 as well, you have to deside if you like 26 better than 27.

yeah, it looks like some original paint on it. The body is super solid. Sub frame is near perfect. The bottom 2" or so all the way around is rusted through, but it's all pretty much flat steel. Should be a pretty easy fix. I was also wondering why a car in good shape would be stripped. Maybe a previous owner took it apart to repair it ? As for restoring vs rodding. Not sure yet. It's missing lots of stuff. I do have a Model A frame, and some '39 suspension parts. So they might be used on this. For now, I'll just work on the body, and see what parts I can come up with.

I had heard that 1926 models had wood inner frames around the windows, and 27's were steel, so I'm thinking it's a '27.

Well, I just got another one. A '26 this time. It has all the bits I need including a near perfect driver door. No rust. amazing. Has a workable trunk lid, and lower panel. Has the header panel. I almost have a complete body. Only missing the visor, and a wind sheild frame. The rest of it is pretty rusted out. I will have an extra set of repairable doors however. If anybody needs them, I would trade for other T parts.

If you still need it there is a ready to instaLL 26/27 firewall on the "Non-Chevy Guys" site under the Swap Meet category.
