Hello,

Here are the correct carbs for a '56 T-Bird 292 or 312:

FORD # HOLLEY # TRANSMISSION

ECJ-9510-N List 1164 Auto (Early production)
ECJ-9510-U List 1164-1 Auto (Mid-year production)
ECJ-8510-Y List 1164-2 Auto (Late production and service)

ECJ-9510-R List 1163 Manual (Early production)
ECJ-9510-V List 1163-1 Manual (Mid-year production)
ECJ-9510-Z List 1163-2 Manual (Late production and service)

This is if you want the correct number for a show car to be judged.
Any of these will work on the car if you don't care about that.

Passenger car carbs for 1956 will also work, but have different part numbers. Holley numbers List 1161 for auto trans and 1162 for manual trans. These are also -1, -2 or no - for early , mid and late production.

Hope this helps you. Also, I am in the process of buying some List 1161 and 1162 cores for restoring if you are interested.

It is a Holley 4000, also known as the teapot carb.
