started lapping the new valves,
I just started to lap the ford valves in an 8BA. The stick will not stay with suction so the valve doesn't rotate. I have used the sticks before but with the depression on the valve ? just will not stay attached to the valve. Anyone have a brand they can recommend? Finally anxious to get this engine assembled. It took the block guy over a year and a half to pin and seal the crack. He had a bad cancer and treatment in between so I decided to wait

Re: started lapping the new valves,
Scott, Can you put a dab of contact cement on the valve and stick so it will grip?
Clean with lacquer thinner or acetone or carb cleaner when done. Glad you are feeling better. Also, are you using the correct size valve lapper that grips outside the depression? https://www.google.com/search?q=valv...hrome&ie=UTF-8 |

Re: started lapping the new valves,
I went to 2 stores to buy rubber cement. Neither had it. I had some Gorilla double sided wall mounting tape. Worked like a charm.

If just cleaning up used valves, a dab of super glue on the suction cup works fine. |
