Default Vintage HC head ID

I know many of these older HC head that have nothing stamped or embossed on them can be Id'd as to who made them, but going to post pic's of this one just incase. This is the head we are going to use on Dad's coupe. If anyine can ID it, that would be great. Definately will not a must to know who made it, but always nice when you know. Thanks Rod

It is difficult (or impossible) to tell exactly who made many of the 'after market' heads for the Ford Model A. Some have indicating markings, others do not. Look over your head very closely, with a magnifying glass if need be, to see if you can discover any clue.

There must have been at least ten speed shops in the L.A. area in the 1930-s - 1950-s that made these (and LOTS of other speed stuff) high-compression heads. Some maker's marks are well known, others not so much. Buried in my barn of 'stuff' I must have at least three of these, without markings, two with markings.

I will have a look when I am at Dad's Friday. Don't recall seeing anything before it was bead blasted. Maybe I can see more now. Rod

My high compression head has no obvious identifying marks on it either. The combustion chambers look like those on the head you pictured. Do you know what the compression ratio is on the head you have, Rod?

I am not sure yet. Will cc it after it is trued. Seems shallower than my 6.5:1 BF, but will let the numbers speak for itself. Rod

The local surplus store has glass CC tubes in various sizes. Why couldn't you pour sugar into the head and level it with a steel rule on edge, then carefully tip the head onto a sheet of paper and pour the sugar into the CC tube to measure the combustion chamber CC's?

I had not considered sugar. Was planning on using a light weight oil along with a spark plug modified with a drain valve of sorts which I would have to measure the CC's of before hand so I know how much to subtract. Might give sugar a try. Rod
