Default 1931 running board question

In the JS&RG Section 13 pg 7, the last sentence in the running board description mentions a radiusd knotch at each end of the zinc trim. Is there a picture somewhere or could someone post a picture showing what this radius looks like? Preferably from an original unrestored car.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but some of this applies.
Attached are pictures of my 1931 running boards. The left two are Rootlieb
boards from a few years ago and they do not have the radius cut although are quite accurate overall.

The next two are ones I bought at a swap meet probably 20-25 years ago judging by the price. The right two are from my late '31 Deluxe Tudor that I acquired in 1978.

My question is what was the purpose , if any, for the extra holes that I have circled on the four original boards? Mounting holes for aftermarket accessory?
They look like factory punched holes. Just wondering.

Marco, do your original NOS boards have these holes?

Thanks,
Ray

That is interesting since they are all positioned the same. No, my boards don't have them and I can't think of a Ford use for them. I haven't focused on '31 boards enough to know if that is truly and oddity or not.

Thanks for your reply.

I originally thought they were for some aftermarket thing, but the mat material still covers the hole on one of the originals.
