Default Good info on the Oil Filters that are in use Today.

Thought I would pass this info along to those using Oil Filters.
I was surprised to see many are lacking any real Quality!!!

We did a side-by-side cut away comparison of the popular oil filters people were using, in the early 70's, at the Ford garage I worked at to compare Motorcraft to the others.

The Motrocraft was/is a true dual stage filter, pretty good quality especially compared to the competition. We sold cases of oil filters after that display. Seriously. Many of the local farmers would come in, see what we had done, and they would have me cross reference filters for their ag equipment let alone the C1AZ-A's (Motrocraft FL 1) filters.

The Ford dealership owner gave me a VERY nice bonus and raised my pay after that!! He was tickled to death.

On my Model A I have been using WIX 51515. I first liked them because they are black and don't call attention to themselves. Easy peel-off label. Nevermind that they are an excellent filter.

A good mechanic friend told me this same thing about Fram oil filters. He cringes when a car pulls into his shop with that orange bad boy on the motor

I have a '67 Cougar I've owned since 1982. Have used a variety of filters over the years-Motorcraft, Purolator, etc., and a lot of Fram! About 12 years ago I rebuilt the engine and started drag racing it. It had 110,000 miles on it and the crank was still perfect so I put it together with standard bearings. Last winter I had it down for aluminum heads and domed pistons. The crank was still perfect and standard. Still use Fram filters, usually the Tough Guard. I do 7,000 RPM burnouts and shift at 7200-7400 and have made hundreds of runs. So I have no problem using Fram filters!

Interesting article from Jerry Bransford, administrator of JeepForum.com. He was invited to the Fram Research and Development facilities in Dayton Ohio and completely changed his attitude towards Fram filters.

Interesting read,
