Intake leak
What is the best way to check for an intake manifold leak? Thanks

With engine running at idle spray carburetor cleaner along the intake. If engine speeds up
slightly you have a leak. If engine won't idle down you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere. Hope this helps. John P.S. keep spray away from hot exhaust manifold. spray is flammable.

Best thing I have found is to use a small rubber hose like windshield wiper fluid hose and listen for leaks around manifold while engine is running.
At 74 I can still hear well enough to tell if there is a leak. Problem with un-lit torch or Carb cleaner is that the fumes find there way to carb inlet and change the speed giving false indication. That is my experience anyway ... For what is worth. |
