Default New block next steps.

As I stated a week or so ago, I am planning to get back to the A block now that other things have settled back into place.

My plan is to cast at least 4 blocks and machine them as 2 A interiors for babbitt fans, and 2 for B interiors. These will probably be sold to someone on my update list. Before that, though (selling them), I might like to display something at a show like Carlisle.

My core shop is pretty busy so I don't know how long it will take to get cores. I have 4 sets of my Cleveland block cores on order and haven't received an ETA on those yet.

If you are not on my update list and want to be emailed more details when I get going, email me at blockheads2014 at yahoo dot com.

If a sample block went to Fall Hershey that would get it in front of the most potential customers. IMO Thanks for your efforts, I like the A exterior and B interior myself.

It's a shame you missed the national events this year.

I sure do appreciate the encouragement and support.

We ordered some filters yesterday specific to the A block casting and will have to wait a couple of weeks for them to come in. But we will have molds ready when they get here. We got a really nice casting with hand-cut gating so actual gating designed for the casting should prove successful from the start. Sell your stock in JB Weld Mike.

Mike V., I wasn't planning on any events anyway. I had a lull where I could spend a couple of months finishing the pattern, make a casting, and machine it, so why not? The first one came out so nice I just had to put the project in the pipe and work on it. Carlisle is a possibility, but I won't lose any sleep if I can't make it. I really do have alot of other things I'm working on right now. And for those of you who are unaware, my health is not what it used to be, even though I'm still just a kid.

I shared your video of the casting with our local club and everyone was excited to see the progress. I think you have an opportunity to provide a needed product for the hobby.

Maybe build one up complete and give it to someone local to test real world. And no I'm not local.

Thankyou very much. I feel blessed to be able to get up every day as it is. A massive stroke is not to be taken lightly! The damage is done and I just have to push through every day.

That has been the plan all along. I'm sure someone local will be more than willing to help.

Gotta do what ya gotta do!

Don Snyder was over yesterday and he was looking at the sample block. He couldn't resist rubbing his hand on the broken spot where I dropped it. We just chuckled about it and talked a little about progress on that and other things.

I'm going to Indy today with my iron foundry owner to pick up my aluminum furnace. We will then be able to make our own aluminum also. I have aluminum heads to make as well as my aluminum Cleveland blocks. One of the first things I'll do, though, is sample an Aluminum A block.
