Default adjusting a cabriolet seat

Having helped install a flattie in a 41Woodie yesterday I thought I'd better mess with a Model a today. The seat my late 30 cabbie does not move. The adj knob turns and the mech tries. The mech is not stripped. I have looked of junk in the tracks or bolts where they don't belong. I'll ask the guy who did the seat job tomorrow. The seat won't even wiggle so something is holding it tight.

Clem, I assume the seat is sliding on tracks. I have found that if you just put the seat mounting parts together without aligning them, they will be bound up when you tighten the bolts. Loosely assemble the seat base and mounting parts and then slide and shift the tracks to be sure there is smooth movement through out the travel. I also remember that if you have bolts that are not the correct length or over tightened they can impede movement. I hope this helps, Ed

Getting some oil and grease on the moving parts helps a lot.

You guys are right: the rails are dead dry. Looks like some cloth or slide material in spots. The seat doesn't even rattle a bit. Like it is bolted in place. I fit OK but there is a gap of1 1/2 inches behind to back rest that I would like to have forward.
