Stainless Restoration
This subject has surfaced off and on over the last few years.
My question is if any of our West Coast restorers have found a craftsman to restore the Model A stainless pieces. The trim is the center piece on the Model A and I want it done correctly by a Craftsman....... I am ready to send my SS pieces off for repair/polish. Overall the parts are in good original condition needing only minor dings removed and polishing. Thank you in advance......

Re: Stainless Restoration
Dave Cantwell, in San Bruno, has recently done nice repair and polishing of some stainless trim on my 1951 Ford. the rear window trim particularly, needed a lot of ding repairs.

Re: Stainless Restoration
Be sure to find someone that has done it before and knows what they are doing. The average shop that chrome plates bumpers will probably think they can do it. The usual problem with the '30-'31 shells is that some new, minimum wage employee will have the wheel going too fast. They then force the shell into the wheel until it stops, back off and repeat. This will leave ripples in the shell due to local overheating. You can never get the ripples out. The shell will be shiny but look terrible.
