JK, paint two red on the left and two black on the right. That way the witnesses can contradict each other.

And considering not all combo's had black guards, some had tan guards and some had green guards, there definately were some different combo's offered. Also, there were only 16,238 1928 A's sold and a mere 6929 1929 A's sold, thats a lot of colour for small production numbers.

Yes; was reading Jim Schildt's "Original Ford Model A" last night...


Somewhere around June 1930, colored wheels became optional, and for 1931, Deluxe models came with colored wheels, in the same color as the striping...

Consult the Paint & Finish Guide or the Judging Standards for the specifics on a given year & model.


I was also mildly surprised to see in Schildt's book some color photos of some very lovely '28-'29 A's with non-black wire wheels, but otherwise correct paint... perhaps these owners drive on colored wheels, reserving their "correct blacks" for judged events ?
