Need '32 Ford Pickup Info
I was talking with a fellow that owns a '32 Pickup, he claims you can tell a real '32 CCPU because they have the gas tank & cap under the seat yet I've seen pickups advertised as being 1932 with the filler out side the cab.
I feel this may be something Ford changed mid-year like the '31 Model A with the wide bed & steel top. Anybody know for sure?

They have the tank under the seat but I have never seen one with the cap also under the seat. Always with the cap protruding through the cab behind the door.

'33-'34 pickups have the tank under the rear of the bed with the filler coming out of the bed side.

My 34 came with an under seat gas tank with the spout protruding through a hole behind the door. Someone had changed it and I was told it was a 32 tank setup. I have since seen others like that.

Re: Need '32 Ford Pickup Info
Thanks for the replies.
The truck owner is in his 70s and he said he had a '32 when he was in his 30s so he knew this one was a real '32 because the tank was under the seat. I didn't realize the cap was also under the seat until a mutual friend told me he was out for a ride with the owner, they stopped for gas and he had to get out of the truck so the owner could fill the tank. I appreciate the input, I had asked the owner if all '32 pickups were made that way or if Ford changed it to an outside filler during the '32 model year or waited until '33 but he did not know.

Re: Need '32 Ford Pickup Info
All 32 pick ups had the tank under the seat. The filler was on top of the tank hence the split seat bottom. All 32-34 BB trucks used the same set up. 33-34 1/2 ton trucks had the tank in the rear and the filler thru the bed side. All 32 trucks, even the big BB trucks used the removable firewall like the 32 passenger cars. 33-34 trucks had a spot welded in firewall like a Model A. Only 34 truck cabs had an extra bead across the back.

Re: Need '32 Ford Pickup Info
All model year long, '32 commercial vehicles (except sedan deliveries) and big trucks had under-seat gas tanks with the filler cap on top of the tank. The only running change made to the under-seat tanks was to change the standard tank in the panel deliveries to a 10 gallon tank (to permit easier access to the cargo compartment via the passenger side) with the previously-standard 17 gallon tank optional.
