Default Radial tire pressure

What would be a good summer tire pressure for a light sport coup and new 19 inch radial tires? Bob

1235 lbs is the max load on the tyre when it is inflated to 44 psi. I would start at 34 psi as per the Model A manual and go up or down from there depending how it drives.

I set my Slant Sedan at 36 LBS, tried 30, 32, 34 and then 36 which does feel like the ideal pressure because the car drives noticeably better at that pressure, My car weighs in at 2,550 LBS so the weight of the car should be considered, my suggestion is to experiment like I did.

What ever pressure you prefer use an accurate gauge... The old pop sickle sticks are not always accurate... Go digital (they are cheep) plus your modern iron will be happy

I am able to calculate it for you but need some data from you .
I assume the tire-data already given.
1235 lbs max cold pressure 44 psi but AT35 psi an american system Standard load P-tire the maximum load can be carried ( that 1235 lbs) up to 99m/h even, so will be high enaugh I think for this oldtimer

But look at sidewal for it , and see if you find something like reinforced/Extraload/XL, then its an XL// tire wich AT-pressure is 41psi in American system .

Then I need the weights on seperate tires best, second best axle weights , And the maximum speed you wont go over for even a minute in your use.

If you can collect these data , I can calculate a range in the pressure at wich no damage by overheating, and no discomfort by bouncing.

agreed i dont like those stick type at all, even the analog dial type can be off - ours is off 4lbs high (reads 4 high).

never ever inflate standard car tires to what it says on the tire - just asking for all sorts of trouble. Bicycles and lawnmowers are just about all you do that with.

My old Schrader, from the '50s, still works excellent, check it every couple of years and it's bang on.

I run an extra 5+ # pressure in all tires, modern and A. They wear more evenly.

yea moderns i run about 40# when vehicle door says 32 - way too sqishy of a ride.

most manufactures recommended tire pressure is for the comfort of the ride VS tire life so what eagle says is true - does prolong the life of the tire.
