Default This Property is Condemned

I thought I had seen every early made movie but that one I missed and I just finished watching. If you want to see T's and A's, that's one you need to see. Made in 1966, filmed in the Mississippi Delta and New Orleans and set in 1930/31. The cars, the trains, old New Orleans, the music, the clothing. It has it all and original, no special computer effects!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic cars and a few trucks too. A very young Robert Redford, Natalie Wood, Charles Bronson, Robert Blake.

Based on a play by Tennessee Williams. Francis Ford Coppola directed the movie

It is...take my word on it. Tennessee Williams had a thing about New Orleans. I've been there many times, worked there also. It has it's flare like no other place. Mississippi Delta during the Depression was spot on, of course, 1931 and 1966, not that many years had changed all that much in the Delta.

If you can't find it on TV maybe your local library may have a DVD you could borrow.

I loved the nostalgia of the whole movie.............. What's strange, in the scene where the whole group is skinny dipping, Robert Bake had to hold the legs of Natalie Wood in the tank used that was just a few feet deep, she was so scared of water.

I've got a thing for "Nawlins" too. Especially the French Quarter! Love that ironwork. The only place that comes close is Quebec, not Montreal and I guess Paris itself, although I've never been there.

We watched it too and I'd never heard of it before either. It's a good movie.
It was actually directed by Sydney Pollack. Coppola wrote the screenplay.

How did you like the Ts and As, trains, music, clothing? The only fluke I know of is a calendar in the office was for 1931 but the movie they went to see didn't come out till 1932. Real good portrayal of Depression years other than the Grapes of Wrath of course. I would love to take Sarah down Route 66 to at least Arizona.

Oh, I really like all that period stuff. Great cars and movie is beautifully shot. I was thinking the same as you about it all being real, not digital especially the overhead shot of the train crossing Lake Ponchetrain. What was that red sedan that Redford collapsed on after Paul Kersey beat him up?

No sure, I'd have to see it again and watch for it. I might just go ahead and order the DVD.
