My pop out really is on its way out switch only My question is can I only replace the switch with new keys or do I have to replace the entire switch with cable. if I don't have to replace the cable I would like to stay away from this at this time as to my inexperience Thanks All

I do not recommend a repro replacement ....try to find an original that has been restored by an reputable restorer... They are out there....sure ..more money but more reliable....repros are more like junk.....

I think in the sticky portion there is listed a guy who rebuild them. You are looking at around $150ish, but you will never have a problem again, unlike the repops.

p.s. Welcome to the barn.

actually there is another alternative.. this is a fake pop out looking switch made by nurex USA and comes with an authentic looking cable... these particular switches are high quality unlike the cheaper ones..
the fake pop out can fool any judge

Look in the stickies: Dick Crabtree is great. He can fix yours.

Do NOT spray the switch with WD-40, as I've heard it's not good for potmetal.

I sprayed WD-40 on a handfull of hardware I had in a nice plastic container. The plastic container isn't so nice anymore.

We have the repo on several cars and no problems, we have pop outs that are restored and they work well, choice is yours it is a simple job to replace everything with new and be done.

I think pictures help with getting answers. You may have a replacement switch in place now. Some look very original at first glance. If you have an original switch with cable, '700rpm' is right about Dick Crabtree's restorations. I have one and am very pleased.

A lot of good information here. If you buy a re-pro from Snyder's, it will cost you about $60 and shipping. It should work fine. If you have an original switch, you could put that money towards the repair of yours. Check with Crabtree for his price. Call him at 605-487-7229.

Good luck and have fun with your car. Bill
