Hello again, I agree with Brent that’s what I was referring to on my reply, for example, on my particular car one fender is a factory side mount, the other a repro self installed well . Comparing to two you can see the difference in size and location of the well placement. A lot of good fenders were probably cobbled up with the repro well. My tires are old Garfield replace sizes 4.75 up to 5.50 x19 supposedly, definitely due for replacement when car is ready for the road .

[QUOTE=BRENT in 10-uh-C;2181522]

.............The root of your problem is someone installed the well into the fender -but did not install them correctly. This likely stems back from the days of Rick Freeman and possibly others who did not give correct info on how to install them! (-imagine that!! ) ..................

That HAS to be what happened to our '30 Dlx. Roadster, restored in 1972, at the peak of Rick's fame. Never thought of that.....

Yes the insides are bowed 'in'

I have a side mount on my 30 ccpu, with Firestones.
I hate the tires, but no issues fitting them in the well

Hello, not meaning to go off post, but what don’t you like about the Firestone tires? I was thinking of getting a set in the spring.

Out of balance, hard ride and the tread pattern is horrible in snow. My Goodyear's are far better. ( Two sets)

Thank you for the reply on Firestone tires, the out of balance and hard ride concerns me , the snow not so much.Usually sit in garage from November to March here in northern Pennsylvania. Don’t really plow the roads as much as salt ,wait until after a few good spring rains before I get them out .
