1916 couplet

saw one of these yesterday. restored in the 1970s.
nice looking car that needs some redoing. this is the one where the back folds down like a landau.

saw a beautiful one listed on HCCA a few months back and it had trouble reaching 15k. how rare are these?

are there no buyers for this model?

the one I saw yesterday was on beautiful wire wheels. Painted white, and peeling paint.

Coupelets are quite rare. They did not sell well when originally offered, and by 1916, the price of the car was lowered and they sold better. From my research, there seems to be around 60 coupelets still around, and the 15K price you quote is very low. It seems that the price of the car today is determined upon the rarity and the quality of the restoration. Here is a photo of my 1916 coupelet. Russ Furstnow

question, is there a reason the headlight rims arent brass? did it depend on the time of the yr?

My car was produced in January 1916, and in June 1915, all the brass trim on the lights was eliminated. I've attached some information about the introduction of the 1916 model from the "Ford Sales Bulletin" dated November 1915. I hope this helps, Russ Furstnow

Russ, Is there any chance that picture of your car was taken on the road to Sunset Crater, north of Flagstaff, AZ?

The photo was taken on Kiltie Lane going to my home which is about one mile away. The San Francisco Peaks are north of my home and this was taken in the spring in Flagstaff!! We can have snow until June! Russ Furstnow

Hi again, Russ, I lived in northeast Flagstaff (Smokerise neighborhood) for about 35 years. My wife's nephew, Joel Reinen, lives about 4 or 5 houses from you.
My first thought when I saw that picture was the Sunset Crater Road but it's been a good 8 years or so.
